Benny Hinn:  I Would Not Do This For Money; Most Faith Healers are Frauds

Benny Hinn:  I Would Not Do This For Money; Most Faith Healers are Frauds

Benny Hinn gives an interview to Nightline to defend himself.  He talks candidly about faith healers; and also says that he has to many times live a life of misery.

What about the people you've healed that aren't healed?  "These are things I cannot explain".  (His explanation:  "I am not the healer, God is.")  In other words... take it up with God.

Watch the video and let me know what you think...

I thought it was a great interview.  Very telling.  And a very unusual look at a very unusual religious personality.

    What do you think?

      Steven,

Judas is a great example of a person in sin being used. Thank you. His was a very unique situation. Can you think of any others?

And, no I haven’t brought out that it is awesome that you were healed of R.A. Let me apologize and do that now. That’s awesome. We serve a magnificent God.

To answer your final question. God and His Word are more important to me than Benny Hinn’s sins (or mistakes if you prefer). If God is the author of your cure from R.A. (I and Benny, according to the above video, would agree on this as a yes) then Benny Hinn and his sins have nothing to do with the miracle that came from God. You are healed by God through faith and Benny Hinn is still a false prophet and possibly (allegedly) much more. The two are not connected.

      Steven:

God can use anyone in any circumstance to help spread the Gospel and have souls saved, even in the worst of situations.  I mean, I’m sure some people have been saved when they jumped out of the way of a speeding 18-wheeler that almost killed them.

But here’s the catch: even if the circumstances God used were not ideal, that does not mean that we should employ them as the norm.  In other words, just because one man was saved by a semi does not mean we should be lining people up and pushing them into traffic.

In the case of Hinn, you may have been saved and perhaps you were healed by God through him.  But that does not make things right—the man is still a false prophet and lives in an ongoing lifestyle of sin.

As for your specific healing, you heard in the interview that Hinn has no documentation to back up his miraculous claims.  Even the boy who said he could see admitted to being duped.  Perhaps your evidence would be among the first to back him up.  But, remember that just like a prophet who errs in one prophecy per Deuteronomy 18 is a false prophet, one attributed healing is not enough to qualify Hinn’s healing abilities.

      David,

You bit on what I was fishin’ for.

btw, I think comparing Benny to Judas is probably a little harsh…

wow…all i’m saying is that God uses humans…and we’re all sinners.  I can name hundreds of personal friends that God has used and they do not live a sinless life…as far as I know…None of us do.  No comparison’s from me….I’m not judging anyone…God asked me to get the “log out of my on eye” before looking at others.  And I appreciate everyone’s effort to be “theologically deep” but really, if you don’t like the guy and his ministry….wash your hands and your tongues’ of it and leave it alone….but you all know you would love to fly in a jet owned by your company…come on…..much love

    6. David Buckham on Tue, October 20, 2009

      Steven,

You don’t know me and you don’t know what I would love.  I am a preacher in a small town at a small church and I love serving God here.  I would love to reach my entire town for Christ…even then I wouldn’t be at a megachurch.

My reason for speaking on hear is not because I “don’t like the guy and his ministry” it’s because people are following a false prophet. I will never wash my hands of teaching against false teaching. To do so would disqualify me from the ministry.

We can say “God can and does use sinners.”  But we must also remember, God set standards and called His followers to a higher standard and His teachers at an even higher standard.

I am not just a sinner saved by Grace. If you have given your life to Christ, you are not just a sinner. I was saved by Christ from my sinful life.  I still struggle with sin, sure, but I am not just a sinner. Instead, because of Christ, I and every other follower are saints, at least, that is what God calls us according to the scriptures. We are a part of a royal priesthood. The sacrifice of Christ means eternity to me and many others.  His blood is not watered down.

Don’t ever let anyone downplay what Christ did and simply think “well I am just a sinner saved by Grace.” We are SOOO much more than that in God’s eyes. I am sorry if any minister has told you that.

As a pastor and preacher I, along with many others on this forum, have been charged with protecting the flock, that includes the local church and The Church as a whole. We protect the Church from wolves and wolves in sheep’s skin. I am sorry if you don’t like what you hear, but Benny Hinn is a false prophet…a wolf in sheep’s skin. If he would simply repent of his false prophecies I would accept him as my brother in Christ. Repentance is the key.

Again, I am not talking out against Benny Hinn because “I don’t like him and his ministry.” Like has nothing to do with it. I am talking against his erroneous teachings.

      all about Christ,
      David Buckham

      David,

Sorry if I came across wrongly….I don’t claim to know you anymore than I know B.H…..that’s why I refuse to judge either.  Thank you for your stance and thoughts on Soteriology.  I get it….and I’ve never disagreed or agreed with your statements….just throwing in a little healthy debate….I’ve just witnessed first hand what media and “pastors” can do to other ministries….just making sure we have our facts before we take stances…..google doesnt’ represent truth….just information…....may God bless you and your church….keep spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ….as a pastor also, I understand your heart…....peace!

Great question on who god uses.  I agree that we should place scripture in the center of how we measure this, but even there we must be careful.  We argue over spiritual gifts, over end times and much more.  In doing so we run the risk of condemning a ministry simply because we do not buy into the theology.

When we see abuses, see claims such as the Trinity is really 9 persons (even though Benny took it back) and such, then scripture must instruct.

God uses everything because He is sovereign, not because a person is useful.  God can do what ever He wants with whatever He chooses.  The logic above is the logic of “shall we sin that grace may abound” and we know the answer Paul wrote.

Judas was not a servant of God, just a person who served God’s purposes.

    10. Pastor Matt on Wed, October 21, 2009

Fraud.  But I’m sounding like a broken record with this guy.

    11. Cabinet Handles on Wed, October 21, 2009

Interesting, Benny Hinn is not trustworthy at all..

    12. Jim Indiana on Wed, October 21, 2009

I don’t give blind trust to anyone, especially faith healers.  Yet, I know a nationally recognized minister who gives God credit for using Benny Hinn to heal a serious heart problem.  He was on three heart medicines until Hinn spent time praying for him, and now he’s considerably better, but not completely healed.  He’s down to one medication from the three he was taking.  So, maybe it’s an example of God using imperfect vessels, which would apply to all of us?

    13. Pastor Matt on Wed, October 21, 2009

Absolutely, but that is just an endorsement of God, not Benny Hinn - it doesn’t make Benny Hinn any less a fraud simply because God meets and heals his people.

God’s use of imperfect vessels is an endorsement of God, not us.

    14. JR on Thu, October 22, 2009

Just a little clarification - we are called to judge, at least those inside the church who call themselves Christians.  Check out 1 Cor 5:12.

Hinn is a fraud and false prophet.  Plain and simple.  We don’t have to judge his motives but we can judge the fruit.

I still don’t care. (Gee, he seems to be getting a little chubby about the collar.)
