Wow... this brings whole new meaning to 'seeker targeted'. At Whitetail Chapel, clothing is optional, even for the pastor. This nudist church is all about worship. According to a member of the congregation: "I really don't think God cares what you wear when you worship."
Um... I agree. But I think the people around me care. A lot.
I don't think anyone would want to see my lily-white butt while trying to sing worship songs. And I feel the same way about the people sitting in front of me.
Here's a video news report on the church. Watch at your own risk.
The pastor, alone, made me throw up a little in my mouth.
What do you think? Could you ever (EVER) worship nude? Could you do the David dance in front of your church?
I think not.

I used to have this as a dream/nightmare that I ended up somewhere in my undies… If I did this it today would be someone else’s nightmare.

Is it a case of simple irony that it’s called “Whitetail Chapel” or was this a marketing strategy?!?

Whitetail. What a name. This is one case where “doing all things decently and in order” really needs to be applied.
“I wear my suit to church. My birthday suit.”
I take it no children allowed at this church as protective services would be, uh, all over them.
In the top photo they’re in pews, in the bottom they’re in some kind of recliner/theatre seat. Two churches or one? AND talk about not wanting to sit in some other members pew…

Apparently, the word, “church,” doesn’t quite have the same definition it possessed for the past 2000 years or so.

Seems that some of the gentlemen could use a “bro” or a “mansier” Just sayin’

I really feel that these people are free to worship in any manner they wish. However, I don’t think I could ever go to a nude church.
I know some churches that complain about the type of clothing that women wear. This would send those people through the roof.

Nudity aside… Did anyone notice those seats. They look pretty comfortable.
Paul on Wed, March 10, 2010
Todd, who’s “seat” were you looking at??? Seriously, who’d want to sit on those chairs after those naked bodies had been on them for a while? Yuck.

Wow. Talk about blasphemous.
This is disgusting.

I don’t even know where to start.
No, it’s not okay.
Statistically speaking, men 18-34 are the most difficult to get to go to church. My guess, this church is a big draw to that demographic.
But again, that does not make it okay.

I doubt that this church or nudist colony is found in Alaska or the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. It seems that most, if not all of these colonies are located in the southern part of the country. So, If location, location, location, influences your “style” of worship, it’s a good bet it’s not spirit led. Plus, the theology of the pastor re. Jesus being nude at specific times is a theology that is not well recognized or found in solid seminary theology courses. Besides, the examples that the pastor gave re. Jesus being nude, if he was nude at the crucifixion and coming our of the grave, were situations where it was not his choice to be undressed.
They say crackpots come in all shapes and sizes, and apparently they have a cornucopia of ideas on apparell, as well.

Yikes! There are problems on many levels, but where to start. The best, for me, is to leave them alone. God will have to deal with them.

looks like it may have been a little cool in there

When God restores all back to the way things where supposed to be, will be be able to parade around naked (and unashamed)? Perhaps this is just a foretaste of the greater things yet to come?
(I didn’t watch the video, not sure it is work appropriate, so probably not)

Good question. I suspect not because of how often robes are mentioned in the Book of Revelation, for instance.
