Wow... this brings whole new meaning to 'seeker targeted'. At Whitetail Chapel, clothing is optional, even for the pastor. This nudist church is all about worship. According to a member of the congregation: "I really don't think God cares what you wear when you worship."
Um... I agree. But I think the people around me care. A lot.
I don't think anyone would want to see my lily-white butt while trying to sing worship songs. And I feel the same way about the people sitting in front of me.
Here's a video news report on the church. Watch at your own risk.
The pastor, alone, made me throw up a little in my mouth.
What do you think? Could you ever (EVER) worship nude? Could you do the David dance in front of your church?
I think not.

I think I could worship nude, just not at a church building or with anyone else (except my wife) around.
I am glad I live on the other side of VA.
I feel his arguments about Jesus being naked at important times were weak because only one of those times was by his choice (we are all born naked and you don’t exactly get to say hey, mr executioners could you give me some clothes). Additionally, it’s totally possible that his resurrection “garments” were not exactly clothes. Mary said nothing about Jesus being naked when she met him in the garden?
Just remember, underneath all those clothes, we are all nudists. HA

I think that going and being in church naked would be a beautiful experience for everyone. I believe that God created us all that way naturally and unashamed. Here we never have a church that is clothing optional before. And we should as if God intended it in the future locally. We should all worship our Creator above naturally. It’s not about ourselves, it’s about our God Himself who created us all natually and all things on earth, too. There’s nothing wrong with anyone’s nudity in a local church. Bring a towel for sitting on chairs or benches and show repectfulness and acceptances and love and cares and be happy without shame. Shame is from the evil one below and not of our God above. So, when being in our nudity, don’t let the feeling of shame, guilt, shyness, and embarrassment enter in all our lives. God gave us freedom. Wearing our clothes does not cover our bodies. It never does. We are all in the same image of God naturally. I hope in the future we’ll all worship the Lord our God in our nudity free of shame. There is no shame on our bodies that God had made us that way, too.

Gary,
You talked about worshipping God in the nude as natural but then said bring a towel to sitting on pews or benches? Is sitting on a pew or bench natural for worshipping God? What about church buildings? Are they natural?
By natural I assume you mean the way it was originally done, and from your latter comments, the way you hope it will be in the future.
Does this church include children? As a farther of two, I don’t think it would be very natural for my boys to see older naked men and women. I know the throw back will be “but Adam and Eve were naked and they knew no shame”. Well things changed, sin entered the world and then they had kids. So are kids allowed to worship here since they weren’t around when Adam and Eve frolicked naked?
Shame isn’t from Satan exclusively. I believe the Holy Spirit uses shame, although we may be more comfortable calling it conviction.
