Elevation Church Kicks Off Captial Campaign By Giving Away $40,000

They continue:  Truly feeling inspired by God, we gave away the equivalent of the average weekly offering for the year ($40,000)… and then we didn’t take up the regular offering.

The money was distributed in envelopes to everyone that attended a service in denomination amounts of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 dollar bills. There was also 1000 dollars given away in each of our 5 worship experiences. Along with the cash, there was a card in the envelope with the rules:

    · You can’t spend the money on yourself

    · You can’t give it back to the church

    · You have to tell us what you did with the cash here

We’re calling it the Bless Back Project and the goal is simple: It’s not about the church wanting your money. God has blessed us to be a blessing to others. This ain’t your grandma’s capital campaign. Regardless of what amount of money our people get, we are praying that God would give everyone an opportunity to be a blessing for someone else.

This is just the beginning of creating a culture of generosity at Elevation Church. Dominate is about what we want for people, not from people. There is no building project or strategy that we are giving to, but there is a vision.

I love this from Elevation Church: This Sunday to kick off our capital campaign, Dominate, we decided to turn the normal perception of a church raising money on it’s head. We did a reverse offering. And no that doesn’t mean that we took up the offering before the service, we gave it all away.

      AMAZING!

It’s not that we should all give money away, but shouldn’t we all emulate the idea of giving back to our communities… in some fashion.

      How do we do that?
