    Comments from Around the Web...
It’s interesting, sometimes to read what people write about MMI.  Some of it’s good.  Some of it’s… well, not so good.

My favorite recent comment about MMI was from Maxsons.org. They wrote:

“Some from sites I agree with, some I’m sort of nuteral on, and others I don’t agree with.  MondayMorningInsight.com is in the ok list.  Some of their stuff is good, some isn’t, and I don’t agree with most of it.”

I’m not sure how to take that.  Are you?!

Over at LeadingSmart.com, Tim Stevens was nice enough to pick up my post about churches that “get it”.  There, Mark Beeson (the Senior Pastor at Granger) comments:

“I like this Todd Rhoades guy.”

I’m a fan of yours too, Mark… let’s you, me and Tim do lunch!

    Don’t Take Everything So Seriously...
I also get a kick out of some of the Friday postings.  Most of you who are familiar with MMI know that Friday’s are days that we don’t take ourselves very seriously.  The posts are always satire-ish (is that a word) or funny.  But everyone doesn’t always get it.  (And even when I do point out that the post is not for-real, some choose to believe the post anyway).

For instance, I got an email yesterday from a gal upset over the post on the ”Doctrine of Hairology”.  She was clearly ticked…

“Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have just listened to the doctrine of hairology, and I am appalled. At first I thought that man was joking but, surprisingly, he was dead serious in what he shared. THIS is the type of preaching that undermines the work of the Holy Spirit and causes people to conform to man. He definitely twisted Scripture in quoting “Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart.” He used it to undergird his opinion that since man looks on the outward appearance, we need to look like God wants us to.” When, in fact, what the Lord was pointing out in that Scripture was that we tend to surmise a person by their appearance when the more IMPORTANT thing is what God sees—the heart!”

I think good satire makes you ask, “Is this real or not?” Just remember, if you’re reading it here on Friday, it’s probably not something to take real seriously.  Especially if it’s delivered by somebody called “Upper G. I. Barber”.  smile

    Great Easter Reports Coming In...
I’ve gotten two exciting emails about some great things happening over Easter.  The first from Tony Morgan from NewSpring.  They had 10,707 people attending their 5 Easter services with many accepting Christ.  I also heard from John Atkinson at Bay Area Christian Fellowship in San Antonio Corpus Christi.  They just entered their new building on Easter, and had 10,188 people there on Sunday.  (They had just 4,000 at their old facility the week before!).  John also reports some other Easter results from other churches here

I’m sure that there are churches of all sizes that experienced some God-sized Easter services.  Take a few moments and share in our comments section what God did in YOUR church last Sunday.

I think that’s it for now.  I feel much better.  smile

    Have a great day!

I had an interesting experience on Friday. For the second year in a row, we bought opening day tickets for the Cleveland Indians home opener. Last year, it was just yucky. About 45 degrees with wind and rain. We thought that it could never be worse... until Friday. This year's game was delayed an hour... because of snow. It was about 25 degrees, windy and snowing. It was miserable! Then, after two snow delays, the Indians were finally up 4-0. The Indians were up to bat, bases were loaded in the 5th inning, and it was a full count. We were one pitch away from what would be considered a complete game. That's when Seattle Mariner's manager Mike Hargrove came out and got the game stopped because it was snowing again. So... we sat outside in killer conditions for 5 hours; all for naught. Probably not interesting to you... but I just had to get it off my chest. Let's see... what else is going on?...

Small correction Todd—Bay Area Fellowship is in Corpus Christi, not San Antonio, which is a little over 100 miles away. Which, in Texas, makes it a suburb.

While we didn’t have five figure attendance on Easter, it was up 53% from the week before with 25 + guests.

We probably had about 200 or 300 visitors. It was a great weekend. There was a real clear Gospel message preached, and we had a unique music/worship/drama event on Friday night that attracted a great crowd, too.

All in all, a weekend to be pleased with.

Todd thanks for the shout out about what happened at Bay Area Fellowship. Keep those stories coming about how God moved in your churches at Easter. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we were all able to really grasp how many lives were changed this Easter, right here on Todd’s awesome blog. God is moving in so many churches and none of us really know about it. Sadly it seems like we only hear the bad stuff going on in church when so much good is happening. Keep um coming. A little Texas slang for ya.

Hey! It snowed here in Texas on Saturday. Some dear friends of ours were planning an outdoor wedding that day. Nope, wasn’t going to happen. Had to move it inside….. Coolest wedding we’ve ever been to! Someone accepted Christ as the reception was getting started!!! And we were in a barn mind you.

So awesome to hear about all the lives that were changed this Easter! May we remember that it isn’t only one day??

Hey….we’re from Cleveland originally.  My husband has been so frustrated with the snow!  We live in the lovely blue ridge mountains now….guess what?  the sun shines in the winter here…

John Atkinson is one of my greatest friends and what is going on at BAF is a miracle from God!  Their story and journey are exciting and inspiring.   BAF is one of the most kingdom-minded churches I know and they have played a huge part in the life of the church I’m privileged to pastor, Cornerstone Church.  We celebrated easter with 454 people and were able to see God’s power in an awesome way as 27 people received Christ as Savior!
