Does this seem a bit over the top to you, or a good way to present a series on spiritual warfare?

When I watched the video, I think I kinda knew what they were trying to accomplish, but it just seemed a little ‘creepy crawly’ to me. You know, the little hairs on the back of my head kinda stood up… it made me a little uneasy.

I couldn’t see the whole thing because of computer problems, but looks good to me, as a temporary series… reminds me of the Salvation Army and how they operate…
Jesus told us that the gates of hell wouldn’t prevail, so let’s go crash some…
I hope they apply the ‘spiritual warfare’ to not just praying, but to all aspects of life (growing spiritually, fighting selfish tendencies, etc.).

Must be a lot of spiritual warfare going on… I couldn’t even get the video to play… & I’ve got an almost new computer & the latest version of my browser… However, whatever it showed probably pales in comparison to what I saw & experienced as missionary in Venezuela. Most of the folks here just have no idea… it’s about time they have their eyes opened!

I finally switched computers & watched the video at home ( I prayed over it 1st)! I agree w/ Bernie - the series needs to cover more than just prayer. But at least what they did brings the reality of SW a little closer to home. I didn’t see anything “over the top” - in fact we had our stage set up very similarly a year ago when we did a series on leadership. The only negative I can see is if someone would misinterpret the military theme as presenting Christianity in an overpatriotic “God & country” sense or in a “militant” sense along the lines of the crusaders.

The only negative I can think of is if someone misinterprets the theme as an overly patriotic presentation of Christianity as being “God & country” or equates the military metaphor as another “crusade” in the worst sense of the word.
In any case the series draws attention to a topic of which most western Christians are painfully unaware.
What you don’t know CAN hurt you!

We did a men’s retreat with the theme of spiritual warefare. We had the cammo netting and the instructors were in uniform. We emphasized the reality of the war and the need for spiritual discipline to be prepared. I felt that it worked because it was limited in focus and a narrow target audience.
What I saw here was rather interesting. I don’t know if I would have encouraged members to dress up. Also, in the past couple of years, I have become sensitive to the mixing of Christ and patriotism. I am a veteran, and I believe we are blessed to be in this country, but our country is not perfect, and we are citizens of another kingdom.
I agree with the one comment as to how this could come across to outsiders. Is this something I would want to publicize? This is more for the body than a means to witness to the lost. Well enough said. I always hesitate commenting on what another church is doing without firsthand experience. It can be hard to discern clearly from a TV news report what is really going on and what the emphasis is.
