2 Out of 3 Pastors:  My Busyness Keeps Me From Developing My Relationship With God

Orginally published on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 5:09 AM
by Todd Rhoades

According to a new study, 65% of pastors—about two out of every three pastors—say that their busyness gets in the way of their life with God. It’s tragic. And ironic. The very people who could best help us escape the bondage of busyness are themselves in chains...

Here’s a link to the study from Lifeway.com...

What do you think?  Has your busyness affected your relationship with God?

The old adage is true, you find the time for what is important to you. If it is a priority you will find the time. Sounds harsh but it is true. And I have four fingers pointing right back at me. I know it is true because it also true of me.

    Kent,

Amen. It’s true for me, too. Worse sometimes than others. Tough right now as a matter of fact.

I think I’m gonna get out of this office with my Bible for a while today. Thanks for posting this study.

Recently, someone publicly criticized me because my office door was shut.  It is shut every morning until 10 am. “What can you possbly be doing in there that’s so important?”

Busyness is a sin. I used to stay busy and talk about how busy I was in order to feel valuable and useful in the ministry. I confessed and repented before my family and my congregation. I even took the word busy out of my vocabulary. Oh man, I need to repent again. I used the word b*sy twice in this post.

Seriously, business can be a drug and an idol. I had to cast it down. Now I get bored from time to time, but at least I have the time to get bored!
