Amish Population is Growing… up 84% since 1992

They're not relevant. Far from it. Nor are they seeker-sensitive. They don't even drive cars. But, according to a factoid in Christianity Today, the Amish population has grown 84% since 1992; up to 231,000 in the U.S. How do you suppose this growth has happened? I have no idea. I would think that it would be from either increased birth-rates, or from stopping the larger number of Amish who leave the clan when they grow up. I would really doubt that many people are converting to Amishism (is that a word?!) Here are a couple of other interesting facts from the CT article...

5% Increase in the U.S. suicide rate since 1999.
16% Increase in the U.S. suicide rate among those ages 40-64.
