Revival Ministries International is now offering quite the deal: A special edition "Revival iPod" for a donation of just $2195. According to their website, purchasing your special edition iPod will help them spread the gospel around the world. Now, before you poo-poo this idea here are the benefits (according to them):

"Firstly," (ok... first of all, is 'firstly' even a word?) "for personal growth and staying plugged into revival, your iPod is power packed over 400 hours of revival music, DVD and CD teachings. Wherever you go, this convenient method of viewing and/or listening to anointed music and teachings is ready at hand—all you do is PUSH A BUTTON.

Secondly, it helps spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. How? Simple. With the purchase of every REVIVAL Video iPod, a substantial portion of its purchase goes towards Revival Ministries International's crusades in North America and abroad."

It is nice to know that a 'substantial portion' of the purchase goes toward crusades. Wow... I would think so! Here's more... just in case you're interested:

Audio Teachings include: A Surplus of Prosperity, Flowing in the Holy Ghost, God’s Strategy for Shaking the Nations in the 21st Century, How to Hear the Voice of God, How to Flow in the Anointing, Igniting the Fire, In Search of the Anointing, Ministering in the 21st Century, Prayer that Moves Mountains, Running The Heavenly Race, Tell the World, The Holy Spirit, His Purpose and Power, Walking in Heaven’s Light, What About the Future?, Faith, Breaking the Spirit of Poverty, All These Blessings, The Power to Create Wealth, Prayer Time, & The Love Walk and more!

Is it Friday? Uh oh… It isn’t?

Is that Danny DeVito preaching in that picture? If it is and he’s on the iPod, I’m totally in. (Maybe it would have a hidden addition of the movie Twins?)

I am selling one for $1595.00 with all my sermons and the first season of the office on it.  All proceeds go to me.

Sounds like spiritual Red Bull to me.  I’m not sure how staying plugged into an iPod for a personal Jesus high is going to ‘spread the Good News’ - we kind of have to (ick!) interact with other people for that to happen.

From the website: “It is a value of over $4000, but with TODAY’S SPECIAL, you can own it for only $2195.”

    Woohoo! A Revival Markdown!

    Excuse me while I gag…

I bought three...they make incredible doors stops and hockey pucks!!!

2195 plus shipping, cant throw in the shipping for that price?  Now I know how they got the surplus of prosperity.

WOW!  This is awesome!!  My ministry is offering a set of James 1 Ear Pieces.  They would go great with the IPOD.  Plus, for a limited time they are only $777.  Act now and you’ll receive a free feather from a real angel.  Just go to moneychangers.org.  We also will devote a substantial amount of the proceeds to “ministry.”

Crap… Chris got to them before I did and now they are out of stock… CRAP!

    Sam,

That is a hoot! Does that real feather from a real angel come with a Certificate of Authenticity?

  • Posted by

Yes, Peter.  For the low cost of $49.95 (S&H;) we will include a free Certificate of Authenticity.  The Certificates of Integrity, however, are out of stock.

This iPod is also perfect for your Florida Revival meetings, because it has the accompanying soundtrack for kicking people in the face!

I clicked on the link and was shocked to discover they’re out of stock! I guess Todd’s promotion of this iPod drove in a rush of new customers and bought ‘em out.

No jokes and no sarcasm, just a sincere question.

How does an ipod, with church preaching and church mucis help me live life in community with my unchurched, non-Christ-following next door neighbor.? Who, by the way, has never read the Bible, never attended a church (much less an evangelical church), doesn’t watch “christian TV”, has grown up in a overtly hellenistic culture that scoffs at anything remotely connected to the name “Jesus”, and does not know how to comfortably have a face-to-face conversation with other human beings.

Jesus taught in Matthew 28 that “in my going”; in my living everday life I should disciple those who are on the outside.  Outside meaning those who are not Christ-followers.  In so doing I will influence them to be baptized; to publically proclaim their voluntary submission to the LORDship of Jesus, the Christ.

How will an ipod and a set of headphones help me to do that?

Holy Cow! I was laughing the whole way through, thinking this guy Todd is a funny, imaginative guy and hope that one day I can find a way to get on the payroll as well - hey, I like to make up outlandish stuff, too! There’s actually a site - it appears to be real - this stuff is actually being done!! God help us all - hahaha!

Mark Batterson, one of the blog’s Todd features below, awhile ago offered something similar called the Godipod.  The Godipod was considered innovative and cutting edge and Mark described it as a “God Idea”. I don’t remember the chuckles then.

Since I too have a sense of humor here is a link to the “Godipod”.

I wonder if Mark is charging 2200 bucks for it, though.

apples and oranges, my friend, JOB… apples and oranges.

Helpful to note (me thinks) that the godipod.com website is history.  No offense to Mark, but I guess it wasn’t a “God Idea” after all.

Plus, I doubt (as Peter pointed out) he was selling them for $2200 clams.

    I’m out!

Not Devito- that’s Tony Soprano. He got saved, and is making you an offer you can’t refuse…

    Peter,
I don’t remember how much the “Godipods” sold for, I would be surprised if there wasn’t a profit margin involved.  I think they sold for around $600 though.  Same idea different profit margin, I think they both are silly. trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Ipod.

Ok, this will not be a popular statement but someone should say it. This is no different than any other ministry creating “product” to sell that offers someone somewhere a benefit. What the heart of the matter here is doctrine, not the price of the ipod. This is a fund raiser, its not a bargin or a value. Just like any TV evangelist that gives a “gift” for a donation of (Enter your price Here). Many a business does the loaded ipod thing for a price. Mark Batterson has done as mentioned above. But I dont think its apples and oranges. its just that many in this post would agree with the content that others have put in these devices but may not agree with content labeled as “prosperity gospel” that revival ministries is using. If Todd had left out the content names and left it as just a church using ipods to market content, would there have been this many posts. No. In fact it would have been old news. It is a double standard to say that “propaganda” or “product” that some agree with as doctrinally sound is ok, but content that some do not agree with is corrupt.

JOB writes [Same idea different profit margin, I think they both are silly. trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Ipod.] Yeah, I think I agree.

John MacArthur does this, too, but I’ll give him credit, as he charges NOTHING for the content, he only charges for the actual cost of the iPod. Plus, he’s NEVER kicked a lady in the face while doing ministry, as far as I know… Bravo, John MacArthur!
