Sex-in-Church Couple Repent… and are Forgiven!

Ingrid predicted this one. Recently, she said "It is only a matter of time before we see couples in bed, “on stage”, in churches to celebrate sex. Two years ago I predicted that we would have the equivalent of pagan temple prostitutes in evangelical churches. Except in church, it will be married couples (for now) demonstrating it all in public. You’ve been warned."
Well, she got that one right. Well kinda. It wasn't on stage. And it wasn't at one of America's leading 'innovative' churches. In fact, Granger and LifeChurch.tv had absolutely nothing to do with this one.
According to Reuters, an Italian couple who were caught having sex in a church confessional box while morning Mass was being said have repented and made peace with the local bishop. The couple, in their early 30s, were detained by police earlier this month after they had made love in the confessional box in the cathedral in northern Cesena. They were cautioned for obscene acts in public and disturbing a religious function.
Last week the bishop celebrated a “Mass of reparation” in the cathedral where the confessional box incident took place to make up for the sacrilege.

I’m not sure what I like most about this story.... that they got caught? That they were forgiven? That it wasn’t a priest and a parishioner this time???? Hmmm..... tough to decide
did the follow the coital position guideline? I love it when Friday comes early… even if it is real sometimes.
I guess Mass must have been boring that day?
What is the church coming to when crying out loud to God in church is an offense!?!?

Okay, this is the closest I can get to understanding some theological relevance to the overused philosophy, “It’s easier to get forgiveness than permission!” I guess if you’re going to do something wrong, might as well do it in the closest spot to making it right - it’s very efficient! (Kind of like robbing the bank across from the police station, setting a fire station on fire, shooting someone in a hospital....)
