Yes indeed, amazing.  As I listened, I was convicted about what I allow to slowly kill my soul.  The radical Hamas Muslims this young man walked away from are militant in their efforts to kill opposing ideas and beliefs.  Where I live, I fear that the insidious effects of abundance, individualism, and consumerism slowly, nearly imperceptibly inflict damage upon the health of my soul, evidenced by my propensity for complacency.

I loved what Gary Haugen said at the Leadership Summit last week, “If you want your leadership to matter, lead in something that matters very much to God.” Yes, in many ways this young man has already given up much more than we will ever will.  But I wonder, if we really want to be about doing what matters most to God, aren’t we . . . isn’t every Christian required to consider what it is that can kill our souls?

OK, so he’s given up his family, well, really, his whole former life...everything he had and was, but what does he think of Rick Warren?  That’s the ultimate test of true faith these days!
