It seems that Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert was pretty excited about the Pope's visit to New York City this last weekend. Take a look to see what kind of preparation he made for His Holiness's visit...

Watch the video here from AMERICA, the National Catholic Weekly...

As a former Catholic, I found that hilarious! I bet the Pope would, too…

Colbert could’ve substituted the unbaptized baby for a larger, Italian, Muslim television personality, and it could have worked, too!  But, I think Colbert would’ve gotten himself a hernia trying to swaddle a man like that.  And the dude would’ve cried louder, too.

“His Holiness??????” I can’t get past the idea that anyone who is a child of God would allow someone else to call them “holy!” All this pomp and circumstance for a man.  A sinner, mind you, in need of a Savior.  A man given attributes that Scripture only assigns to God… “His Holiness”, “Father”, come on!!! Wake up and smell the cult!

Check out the lyrics used for Pope John Paul II, sung to him at his jubilee celebration before he died:

    “Long live the Pope!
    His praises sound
    Again and yet again:
His rule is over space and time:
His throne the heart of men:
All hail! The Shepherd Pope of Rome,
    The theme of loving song:
Let all the earth his glory sing
    And heav’n the strain prolong…”

I just wonder at times when “In Vicarus Fili Dei” will become the moniker for real for that office.
