Two Worship Leaders “Are Goin’ to Hollywood, Baby” on American Idol

I don't know how many of you are watchers of American Idol; but it seems that this year there are actually two worship leaders who were picked to go to Hollywood for the finals of American Idol. One participant, Chris Sligh, is a worship leader at Seacoast Church in Greenville, SC...

The other contestant, Sean Michel, is a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant, AR.  You can read more of his story here...

Oh my. I remember watching both of those guys audition. Sean Michel’s appearance on that definitely goes to show that you cannot judge a book by its cover. What a mission field they now have!

    Thanks for posting this Todd.

Man, I was just telling my wife last night that I had no interest in watching American Idol this season, because...well...I just don’t like it unless I’m with a group and we can talk about the contestants.  So much for that thought…

I hopped on youtube and checked out their auditions...they were both great...really great.  I loved how light and funny Chris was, it just didn’t seem like a big deal to him.  He makes the rest of the crowd look silly, even though they probably think the opposite.

I’ve been listening to Sean Michel’s stuff on myspace and it’s really good.  I love his “rebellious” look although i don’t think the American audience will think the same.  Oh well...even if it just helps to launch his career into the Christian music scene it will be worth it.

No matter how you cut it, their exposure has already done some good and I hope it continues.

This is really cool!  I went to college with Chris Sligh while he was still at Bob Jones.  I did not know him really well, but we had mutual friends.  I remember one of his early concerts at North Hills Community Church down there.  I even had one of his first homemade CDs, but darned if I can find it now…

Hey, I watched last night, and Chris made it through to the top 24!  He seems pretty funny, and is apparently pretty popular, so he should be interesting to watch.
