What If Your Church Asked This Question?

Craig Groeschel makes a very challenging statement over at his Swerve Blog. Craig wonders what it would look like if instead of asking... “How can our church bring in more money?” we asked... “How much can our church give away?” ...

To some extent, Craig and LifeChurch.tv have put their money where their mouth is (no pun intended) by offering all of their creative images, video, and content to all churches free of charge with their LifeChurch.tv Open program.

They do many more things in their own communities that include giving things away.

Does your church have this attitude?  Are you a gatherer or a giver awayer?  (I know that’s not good english, but it works here!) smile

How would/could your church change in this area?

Todd

Craig’s statement is very challenging and one that I pray many people give thought, prayer, and significant action to. Our church is both a gatherer and a giverawayer (even badder english). On the the giving away end - it is my prayer that the blinders will come off to what real ministry is. People. Meeting needs… sharing the ultimate need - Christ. Walking along side of and not just here ya go and off ya go mentality.

I’m grateful to Craig and Bobby. They make me think. They challenge. They inspire.

“Freely you received, freely give.” Is this not what our master taught us? Did not Paul refuse financial support from the Churches he visited, in order that he would never be accused of selling the Gospel (1 Cor 9)?
