Would Your Church Look After a Pedophile for $1000 a day?

...an Australian Church is doing just that, according to the CourierMail website: "A church group is being paid $1000 a day to look after serial pedophile Dennis Ferguson after he was relocated to an isolated area in Queensland.

Police Minister Judy Spence said the 60-year-old was being housed on the church group-owned property after last week being run out of a remote community. "A well-respected, Christian-based group has agreed to provide support to Ferguson and keep him settled. The group was being paid $1000 a day to provide support to Ferguson and keep him settled...

This is a group experienced in working with prisoners in general and also prisoners who are sex offenders.

Founder of child advocate group Bravehearts Hetty Johnston said she understood people did not want Ferguson in their community.

What would you do if your church was asked to look after a local pedophile for $1000 a day?

I think it’s a revolutionary idea!  I would of course give it much prayer, but I think it’s great that this church has stepped to the plate.  Although pedophilia is a horrendous crime, I’m not sure the answer is banishing people.  So, to have a church come forward to offer help I think is great.

    1. Could it be the $1000 per day that they’re looking at?
    2. Is the pedophiler a Christian who has repented over his sins?
    3. Are others affected by those in leadership that decided to house him?

I just think many churches are doing many things for publicity...many today are doing a lot of things under the umbrella of Christianity that has nothing to do with God...I believe there’s a time and a place for everything...and the church isn’t the place to make financial gain off people’s mishaps… (if the church was really concerned they’ll do it for free off the church grounds...with their personal property not the churches...)

I’m in Australia and I can assure you it’s the money that’s talking to that church group.
Dennis Ferguson is a pedophile that is has been deemed unrehabilatable by his psycologistists. He sees no wrong in his actions and each time he is released he reoffends. He takes work that leads him to children, he writes letters trying to befriend local families in order to get to their children, then he abuses them. He is shows no remorse for his actions. It is not church land he is living on but government property, that’s only 5 minutes away from me. Unfortunately it’ll be some do gooders child he gets to next, as it has been in the past, so far he doesn’t abduct children from the street, but befriends the family and moves in on the child later, in fact he even had a christian friend bring her children up when visiting him in jail, and she had to be asked to leave as it was obvious to the prison guards that the close proximity to the children was making him physically aroused. Within ten kilometres of this house where he is staying is about 15 schools and daycare centres, 4 of which he can walk to, the property has no fences, just star pickets and wire, and the goverment is using our tax dollars to pay for his rent, food, cable tv, police protection and this church group to keep him happy 24 hours a day. The people next door, have two small girls and are now prisoners in thier own home. If the church group really wanted to do the right thing by the community, they would find Dennis a place where he couldn’t reoffend, not suppport him being in a place where temptation is in his way. He’s not strong enough and doesn’t even have the will to not reoffend. They are just helping themselves to some easy goverment cash, and giving all relegious organisations a bad name. It’s a disgrace.
