Baptist General Convention of Texas Elects First Woman President

The moderate organization is the state’s largest Baptist group, with more than 2.3 million members. The moderate organization has distanced itself from some Southern Baptist leaders who have issued declarations that women should not be pastors and that wives should “graciously submit” to their husbands.

So… what do you think?  Good move or bad?

The nation's largest Baptist convention elected its first female president this week. Retired missionary Joy Fenner was elected president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. She defeated preacher David Lowrie by 60 votes, 900 to 840.

I think it is sad that so many seem to think this is a big deal just because she’s a woman, she’s the head of the convention, not the Baptist Pope.  Do her qualifications qualify her for the position?  Becasue her gender should not disqualify her.  She was qualified to serve as a missionary.

The Bible is clear on these issues whether we want to accept them or not. The problem that arises today is man seeking alternatives to the Bible.

God used Paul to set things in order, “A women is not to rule over a man period.”

Contrary to this new feminist movement that has stormed the church this century, the Bible still stands.

Revelation chapter two explains this new movement as the spirit of Jezebel.

Isaiah prophsised that the time would come where women would want to rule over men under the banner of Christianity.

when is the church going to get back to Biblical authority?
