    David Koresh-Land
Just what we need… a Dollywood for the Branch Davidians.  The remaining cult-members occupying David Koresh’s old property tell Tim Woods of the Waco Tribune-Herald that they have grand plans for the place—a tourist attraction that would include an Old Testament-style tabernacle, an amphitheater, a spiritual healing center, a museum, and a memorial wall containing a stone for each of the 86 people killed in standoff with federal agents that ended in April 1993.  They’re hoping Waco taxpayers will pitch in on the estimated $10 million cost.  (Good luck with getting the tax payers to go for this one… if they do, then, I guess their just… WACO!) Stupid Evangelical Tricks
There’s an interesting piece over at InternetMonk.com called “Stupid Evangelical Tricks”.  Here they are:  1.  Eliminating all Hymns; 2.  Goofy Youth Minister Style Preaching; 3.  No Church Membership; 4.  The MegaChurch Agenda vs. The Healthy Church Agenda; and 5.  Too Much Music.  You can read more hereQUESTION:  Are you guilty of any of these “Tricks”?

    The Top Ten Church Websites
Another interesting list over at TutorialBlog.org.  This is a non-Christian site that has a list of the best (in their opinion) church websites.  Some you will have heard of before; but there were some new ones on the list for me.  Check them out here. QUESTION:  How would your church website compare to these?  What did you see in these that really stood out?

    Church’s $2 Million Water Bill
A local church in the small town of Ford City, Pa., about 40 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, received a not so small bill from the area’s borough council, recently.  According to the city, Second Baptist Church owed the town more than $2 million over a water bill.  “I thought he was exaggerating,” told Eugene Banks, a church trustee, to the Post-Gazette after he was told the news from a council member. “’You got to be kidding me,’ I said.” Fortunately for the church, the council recognized a mistake in its calculations and has sent a revised bill. The church now only owes $9,873.  More here... QUESTION:  How much water do you have to use to get even a $9,873 water bill?  Yikes!

    That’s it for now…

The Top Ten Church Websites link is amazing for the conversation going on in the comments section! It’s cool that a lot of people on that site are chiming in by nominating their own church sites. It’s also very cool to read thoughts from non-Christians about church webdesign. It’s disheartening to read the negative thoughts about churches and money/manipulation. Amazing link. Thanks. http://www.mondaymorninginsight.com/images/smileys/smile.gif

With a water bill like that one, I wonder how many people they baptized. Must have been a bunch!

We’re mostly guilty of eliminating hymns, but we do one or two a month or so, so I guess not ALL hymns… but most of ‘em…
