    Just thought this was funny…

So... I'm surfing YouTube this afternoon, and here is the ad that popped up:

Gots to get me some Bill Gaither ringtones! I'm thinking 'Something Beautiful" (for when my wife calls me). Who's in with me?! I'm sure Bill could use the money. (NOT!) Reminds me of a saying... "God wrote the song, but Bill Gaither owns the copyright". (OK, it was funnier in the 70s).

      Hi Todd,

If Mr Gaither endorsed this, its a new low for him.  When I commited my life, heart, everything to God, I knew there would be trials, and I knew God would ask me to walk into doors that would contain hard situations, but I was confident in his grace and power.  He’s usually given me three things: Grace, a constant flow of assurance, power, and the right words to say.

Anyway, I knew all these things and expected trials. The awful fight to remain only MILDLY cynical is becoming more and more of a battle when “Christian”  “ministers”  have no problem doing/saying about anything to loose the chains from around people’s pocketbooks.   The saddest thing I’ve found is a listing of tax return and income information from many I’ve looked up to in the past.  Billy Graham, Hank Handigraff, etc etc. Some report their base pay (3-7 times many, dare I say MOST of their supporters salary) and neglect the millions they make on books, lapel pins, “swords of righteousness” (I remember that MMI a couple of years ago), perks like a ‘’company’’ car of a Lexus or Mercedes, thousands of dollars worth of clothing expense accounts, etc etc etc.  ALL THE WHILE telling constituents that they are in such a budget shortfall that they need their help.

I got it, Leonard!  I guess that dates me!  When I was a kid, people used to tell me my Dad looked like Bill Gaither (which he did - not so much, anymore, though).  He also sings like him and often played Gaither Vocal Band albums. (Remember those? Big, black vinyl discs you played with some kind of needle?!?)

And David - I definitely understand your cynicism, but don’t let it ruin either your joy or your fun.  Just enjoy this in the sense that I think Todd posted - to make us smile and wonder which Gaither song we’d most want on our cell phone!!!  (Imagine my surprise to find that the “magic word” I need to enter to actually post this comment is “music99”!!!)

Give please. We should every night call ourselves to an account; What infirmity have I mastered today? What passions opposed? What temptation resisted? What virtue acquired? Our vices will abort of themselves if they be brought every day to the shrift.
