--The ‘inappropriate relationship’ Bentley is accused of having is with his family’s nanny, who was a former intern. But Bentley didn’t have any physical relationship with her until after he filed for separation from his wife. (so, we’re good there). The relationship continues today.
--Bentley says he does not have a problem with alcohol. He does admit he had gotten drunk during his time with the revival, but does not have a problem with alcohol, and is not an alcoholic. (whew!)
--Bentley’s plans now are to move to Fort Mill, SC and undergo ‘supervised rehabilitation’ from Rick Joyner of MorningStar Ministries. And there is hope/possibility that Bentley could be returned to ministry after he finishes Joyner’s program.
--Strader, in the meantime, has written a book that will soon be published that will ‘give his perspective’.
--Strader: Ignitor Church lost ‘several hundreds of thousands of dollars’ during the last few weeks of the revival; but they had anticipated this and set aside a reserve fund and ended up breaking even.
--Strader: The chuch grew by 10% and is now up to about 550 members.
--Strader: “We’re very happy. I gave Todd a great report.”
In a recent story in The Ledger, a little more is learned about the behind the scenes working at the Lakeland Revival and the life of disgraced evangelist Todd Bentley.
According to Stephen Strader, pastor of Ignited Church (where the Lakeland Outpouring began), Bentley called him to make sure the church was ok.
Here are some interesting things that come out of the article...

sad, but not surprised…

A little confused here. if you don’t have a problem, why do you need rehab?

‘Strader: “We’re very happy. I gave Todd a great report.”’
If his definition of a, “great report,” incorporates things like adultery, drunkenness, and rehab, I’d hate to see what a, “bad report,” looks like.

CS,
I think what he meant is that he gave a great report about the status of his church, not a great report about TB.

Where do I begin? I hate when a brother falls..sure don’t want to seem perfect. I have a Charismatic background and been in ministry for nearly 20 years. Charismatics are notorious for bad theology and hypocritical lifestyles. On top of that we give easy passes to men of God with questionable integrity. We in the Charismatic churches need to re-examine our teaching and structure for accountability because most of us operate independent of any sort of constructive critics. I do pray he can come to grips with the truth and deal wiht it!

Yeah, and I have a great bridge in Florida to sell you, too…
“And there is hope/possibility that Bentley could be returned to ministry after he finishes Joyner’s program.”
OF COURSE! And maybe write a book, too…
Now… the fact that he hasn’t ceased the inappropriate relationship with his nanny ain’t so good…

Has there been been even one iota of repentance if the nanny and Bentley are still together and the wife and kids out by the curb? Right, he doesn’t have a drinking problem. A reality probelm, yes, but not a drinking problem.

A sad outcome for what seems to be a talented man. Unfortunately, what is also at work here is a poor theology on the authority of Scripture. Anytime one has a poor understanding of the inerrancy of Scripture, the outcome is that one picks and chooses those things he wants to believe.
-It’s ok to commit adultry, if you’re separated.
-it’s ok to engage in drunkenness.
-it’s ok to think that rehabilitation is a replacement for repentance.

Well, though I think it’s a sad situation I am not going to condemn the man. How many men in the Bible fit the bill here? David, Saul, Peter, Moses, Abraham, Noah, Adam, do I need to continue?
Did Todd blow it? Yeah. So did Swaggert, Haggard, etc. Can God still use them. Yeah. Should we pray for them? Yeah. Should we love them? Yeah. Should we believe that God will use them again? Yeah.

Can any one interpret that for me? *LOL*

Brian L., didn’t the statement from Strader say he gave TODD a good report. If one will read the letter from Todd’s ministry board posted on their site, one will see that Todd refuses to try to reconcile with his wife. He wants the other woman. The ministry board also said that he has not seen his children since July and does continue with the other woman. Restoration for Todd? Sure, but let’s start with one of the things Jesus taught: if your hand offends you cut it off. Cut off the other woman. Go and sin no more. Cut off the other woman. Don’t even think of calling me judgmental. There is a difference between judgmentalism and judging fruit and lifestyle. God help us if we don’t judge some things.

Is the name of Todd Bentley’s nanny Emma? Just curious?

UN - BE - LIEVABLE!!!! What a Kook!!!!
Stay away. Can he be restored? Well of course. But the first step is repentence and I’m seeing none of that here.

Lynn, actually I thought you were going to suggest that Todd cut something else off!
