    LifeChurch.tv Sponsors Porn Event

OK... well, I bet that headline got your attention.  Actually, they're calling it ThePornEvent.com.  The heart behind the event comes from the realization at LifeChurch.tv, especially through the ministry of Church Online, as to how many people are hurting because of addictions to pornography and it's effects. We are partnering with XXXChurch.com to bring some experience to the conversation and we are going to have a call to Christ at the end to connect with people.

You can check it out here...

“I have become all things to all men that I might by all means save some.” 1 Cor. 9:22
Although I’m sure there will be some to be up in arms over the use of the word “Porn”. I hope they GROW UP!

      Two thoughts here:

First, can’t we do this without making it so… I don’t know… smarmy?  I understand the need here, but even the image above looks like it came from the ugly underbelly of the ‘net with the shading and colors.

Second, I have found that XXXchurch has been doing things badly for a while.  This includes a giant inflatable phallus that they use to draw attention to their cause, partnering with porn star Ron Jeremy in making a video that says, “Porn is only for adults,” and some of their other antics.  While their intentions may have been right in the beginning, they went off the tracks a while ago.

I agree that porn is a huge problem, even inside the church.  But there are better ways of doing this.  I would recommend, “Slaying The Dragon,” by Todd Friel for a great example.

I think the Church has been too silent on the issue of sexual immorality far too long already and if we are going to slay this dragon then we need to strike at the heart of it; changing the hearts of those who fund the industry as customers. Kudos to LifeChurch.TV

I donno, folks. I know we have to be “in” the world, but do we have to be quite so close to being “of” the world?

I am as opposed to porn as anyone (among those opposed to porn, of course), but “The Porn Event” rather takes the matter out of the spiritual realm and puts it into the social realm. As a church, I’d rather keep the focus on spiritual importance. We have plenty of social scientists already.

I definitely think that we need to break the silence about the silent killer of porn.  Much like XXX church, THE PINK CROSS is doing amazing ministry on the front lines of the industry.

Pastor Chadwick Walenga is an amazing speaker on the topic for those looking to have someone come into their church and speak directly and tactfully on the subject.

Praying for churches to rise up and face this issue.  I encourage you to check out these sites!
