New Pastor at Dallas First Baptist:  God Told Me I Would One Day Pastor This Church

“God said to me, ‘One day you will be the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas.’ ... Whatever happens, I know I am in the center of God’s will.”

Dr. Jeffress also promised to uphold the conservative theology – including biblical inerrancy – that has long characterized First Baptist Dallas.

His first Sunday as senior pastor will be Sept. 16. He succeeds Mac Brunson, who left early last year to lead First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Fla.

“He’s the right one. I feel that for sure,” said longtime member Gene Guillory.

“‘I will pour my life – everything I have – into building this church for the glory of God,’ he said.’”
