In the process, Grant stands to make millions of dollars for his company, Florida TopLand. He says he donates 10 percent of the company’s income to his church.

“God knows when money comes into my hands, I’m going to share it. So he’s going to keep giving it to me,” said Grant.

A Texas property appraiser said Grant is selling the land for more than double its appraised value.

“Local people won’t buy this stuff,” said Hudspeth County Property Appraiser Sandy Zedoch Pridgeon. “The area you’re talking about, nobody lives there. It looks pretty much like Iraq.”

... the only problem is... the land is virtually worthless. The Rev. Dennis Grant has found his version of the Promised Land — miles of undeveloped desert in far western Texas he is reselling for $22,000 per 20-acre parcel. Preaching that "God did not create us to be broke," Grant, a community activist and senior pastor of Restoration Ministries in Tamarac, has bought up an expanse larger than the island of Manhattan in a remote area 90 mileseast of El Paso. As I argued here, I think retirement is a bad (or at least very selfish) idea in the first place.  What this man is doing is simply following the path paved for him by our culture, which assumes that a good life involves self-indulging for the last 20 years of our existence (an exaggerated picture, I know, bear with me).

Retiring rich?  The American dream.  But what how might our allegiance to the Kingdom make us do things differently, I wonder?

      East of El Paso.

Coyotes have vacated the land of East of El Paso.

That picture of the For Sale sign is totally false and poor represenatation of the story.

There is not anything remotely looking like a lawn outside of El Paso.  Perhaps, there is nothing like a lawn in El Paso.

Question is this guy clueless and dumb, so people will lose money or will be disappointed when the car tires melt to the black top.  Or is he shyster?
