Seriously… Trying to Navigate Change in Your Chuch? Attend “Change Without Compromise&#8

At this moment in history, we see more churches in decline than ever before. Sadly, many don’t realize that decline is the only possible outcome for a church that doesn’t pursue the right kind of change. The reason… change is necessary to have a healthy church.

No church, big or small, new or old, can remain vital without it. Yet, few embrace, understand or know how to effectively engage it. But, for the sake of the church, we need to deal with it…

    * we need to figure out the difference between positive and negative change,
    * become aware of the areas that do and don’t need change,
    * learn the right and wrong ways to move people through change, and
    * make the choice to begin leading our churches through the right kind of change.

Many churches have allowed their outdated or preferred methodologies to take on greater value than God’s truth and purpose. This creates a powerless… and to the outsider, a pointless church. They haven’t walked away from the idea of God, but they’ve given up and refuse to engage in the ritualistic, “secret handshake”, country club style approach that so many churches find themselves invested in today.

To be effective at saving the lost, we must remember culture is always changing, and even though our message must never change, to be effective, we must be willing to change our means of communicating it. After all, this moment is all we have; it will define us, so let’s use it for what really matters.

Join us this year as we uncover God’s truth, discover the principals of and learn some practical applications vital to the transition process. A lot of churches and church leaders feel that in order to “transition” you must compromise the truth. That couldn’t be further from the truth! Find the encouragement you’re looking for at Change Without Compromise ’09.

The Origin: Church Begins When the church began, it was revolutionary. As a result, the majority of “God’s people” rejected the church and its revolutionary leader. Why? They had lost God in the predictability of their practices. They were satisfied with their conventions and put off by His unconventional behavior. Sadly, the same is happening today. If we’re going to experience God’s power in our churches today, we can’t make the same mistake. We must return to our roots by embracing and engaging in the revolution.

The Nemesis: Villains Unveiled Read the first three chapters of the Bible and the reality is clear. God and His people have an enemy. And yet, God’s people continue to forget and fall prey to the same deceptions. When the church isn’t working right, it’s because God’s people fail to remember to prepare for spiritual warfare. We need to identify the enemy and arm ourselves for victory.

The Hero: Behind the Mask As in comics, so it is in the church. There are heroes, but they are far from perfect. Sadly, we expect both too much and too little from our spiritual leaders these days. As a result, we rob the church of the kind of leadership it needs. We need to examine the life of those God holds up as heroes in His Word and learn from and follow them.

The Fight: Battle Plan The church is in a fight for her life these days… not so much from without but within. In order to fulfill her God-given mission, the church must engage culture with God’s Truth. The Truth is the power to change lives. Engaging culture requires connecting God’s Truth to people in a language they can understand. Therefore, the fight is to “change without compromise.” Though this can be done successfully, it requires a workable plan.

The Revelation: What’s Your Kryptonite? The reality is that the DNA of all churches is different. No two churches are the same. They have different backgrounds, resources, gifts, settings, strengths and weaknesses. As a result, each church has to apply God’s Truth in different ways. The principles are the same but the appropriate practices aren’t. As a result, general information isn’t enough. In this session, there will be opportunity to address your specific questions.

The Revolution: Church Rising A dead church is an oxymoron. The church is the body of Christ, and Christ has risen. The only churches that are dead are those that have locked Jesus out. When we hear His knock and open the door, the revolution begins. As promised, He builds His Church and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it. Let the revolution begin.

I talked with Pastor Brad Powell yesterday. NorthRidge Church's Change without Compromise conference starts next Thursday and Brad offered to give me some free tickets to offer to pastors who are able to attend and could use some help in navigating their church through change. Let's face it... the economy has really hit many smaller churches that are in the midst of trying to do some great things for God. If you're church could benefit from attending next week in Detroit, please contact me right away at and I'll fix you up with a pair of free tickets to the conference. This includes the conference, meals, and everything you'll need. You'll just need to get their and arrange for a hotel for Thursday evening. I have just a few pairs to give away, so please contact me asap if you're interested. I've attended CWC the last few years, and it is one of the best conferences out there for how to implement change and growth in your church. Here's the rundown of the main sessions...
