    NEW!  Follow me on Twitter!
I’m twittering again… and you can follow my every move this week.  (Really, why would you WANT to do that?) Anyway, it should be fun.  I’ll twitter on the newest posts here at MMI (and a bunch of stuff as I come across it that I don’t have time to post here); I’ll let you know the profound and mundane things happening this week… and I’ll try to give some updates from NYC and the Q Conference this week.  I hope you’ll check it out and ‘follow me’.  Here’s my Twitter link:  http://www.twitter.com/toddrho.

Feel Like an Idiot on the Internet?
Seth Godin offers some advice that can help you save face this week, especially with the youth in your congregation:

    1.  You don’t have ‘a facebook.’ Facebook is a place, a network, not a page. You’re ‘on facebook,’ or you ‘use facebook.’

    2.  ‘Friend’ is a verb. “I’ll friend you,” is a totally valid thing to say.

    3.  You don’t look up things on ‘the google’. It’s just Google, no ‘the.’ ‘Google’ is also a verb, as in, ‘Google me’.

    4.  Instant messaging refers to a wide range of software tools and communication channels. It’s called ‘IM’ and it too is a verb.

    5.  A blog is something you have (unlike a Facebook). And blog is also a verb. As in, “I have a blog, this blog, which you probably found by googling me. I blogged about Facebook (which I’m on but don’t use often). I don’t IM, and I’m impossibly lax about friending people.” MORE HERE...

    Adopt a Terrorist for Jesus
That’s what the new Web-based ministry Adopt a Terrorist for Prayer (ATFP) is urging Christians to do. Though ATFP agrees the government must fight terrorism militarily, it also believes the real war will be won in the spiritual realm. “Visitors can find a terrorist to pray for, as well as see how many others are praying for them,” said ATFP founder Thomas Bruce. “ It’s all about connecting these prayer warriors to each other to see how others are praying, to encourage each other, to spread the word, and fight this War on Terrorism in a powerful and spiritual way.” (From the Ministry Report Newsletter).

Hagee Gives Israel $6 Million Dollars
American evangelist John Hagee announced donations of $6 million to Israeli causes on Sunday and said that Israel must remain in control of all of Jerusalem.
Hagee, a Christian Zionist who has been in the spotlight lately for endorsing presidential candidate John McCain and criticizing the Catholic Church, brought hundreds of backers on a solidarity trip to Israel.  Hagee and his group, Christians United for Israel, joined keynote speaker Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of Israel’s hard-line opposition Likud Party, at a rally in support of Jerusalem remaining united and under Jewish control.  “Turning part or all of Jerusalem over to the Palestinians would be tantamount to turning it over to the Taliban,” Hagee told an audience filled with Americans who waved Israeli flags and cheered.  Palestinians claim the eastern part of the city, captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war, as the capital of their future state.  Hagee said his group was giving $6 million to 16 Israeli causes. Recipients include the Magen David Adom rescue service and a conference center in the West Bank Jewish settlement of Ariel.  SOURCE.

First Baptist Dallas Hosts “World’s Largest Garage Sale”:  Proceeds go to Hawaii Missions Trip
First Baptist Dallas announces “The World’s Largest Garage Sale” - April 3, 4 and 5 at The Grand Place (near Big Tex) at Fair Park in Dallas. Merchandise available includes furniture, clothing, appliances, toys, records & CDs, books and home accessories - housed in 50,000 square feet of shopping space.
“The Garage Sale is a great community event,” said Grady Chism, Student Music Director. “We even have ‘regular’ customers who come to see us every year. Last year we moved it to Fair Park and it was the most successful sale yet.” Proceeds of the Sale benefit the church’s high school choir and orchestra summer mission trip to Hawaii. (Don’t know why I thought the missions trip to Hawaii was funny, but I did).  Source...

NY Pastor Takes His Computer to Best Buy for Repairs, Ends up in OH Strip Club...
The car and computer of a missing New York pastor found last week at a Riverside strip club have been returned to him.  Craig S. Rhodenizer, 46, was just another customer at K.C. Lounge Thursday, March 27, until a Riverside police officer noticed his out-of-state plates in the club’s parking lot early Friday morning and ran a check. A home computer was also in the car.  Officer Rhett Close discovered Rhodenizer, who lives in Lewiston, N.Y. and is pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Lyndonville, was listed as a missing endangered person and the F.B.I. was involved.  As of Monday, there are no charges in the case. The Lewiston, N.Y. police department released a hold on his car and computer. Rhodenizer was released from Grandview Hospital over the weekend. His car was picked up Saturday, according to Sid’s Towing.  “We did wait to be sure nothing else was involved,” Lewiston Sgt. Frank Previte said Monday. “We have no reason to believe anything happened that would constitute any crime, so that would preclude us from doing a search of the computer.” Rhodenizer left home in Lewiston on Wednesday, March 26, saying he was taking his minitower computer to Best Buy for repairs. The family was scheduled to leave on vacation the next day. His wife, Susan, reported him missing when he didn’t return.  According to the report, a dancer in the club complained Rhodenizer used excessive profanity and became verbally aggressive when she refused his offer to pay her to return to his motel room with him. She said he refused to tell her where he was from, only that he “was just enjoying some well-deserved time alone.” SOURCE. (sounds like this guy has some ‘splain’ to do.)

OK… that’s enough for today.  Stay away from Best Buy today, won’t you!

Feel free to forward this page to ALL your friends!

Interesting stuff today... including how not to look like a total idiot on the internet; how your can adopt a terrorist for Jesus, a prominent evangelist gives $6 million to Israel, the World's largest Garage Sale helps send kids on mission trip to Hawaii, and the story of one New York pastor, who told his wife he was heading over to Best Buy to get their computer fixed, only to end up at an Ohio strip club. That's today's buzz...

After reading this post and the post on video games/demon possession I have concluded that computers, video games, and the Internet are from the devil.  I will therefore confess my sins and go back to paper and a pencil.

PS-  As I do spell check it capitalizes Internet.  Just proves that the internet is trying to be equal with God.

PSS-  Whoops, I just noticed that I is also capitalized

I sometimes wish I could punch Hagee. Then I remember I’m a pacifist. Maybe I should just pray for him. And a terrorist of my choice…

      Daniel,

What if you only punched him once and then repented…

    6. Camey on Tue, April 08, 2008

      Peter,

That would mean Daniel and Hagee being in the same place at the same time.

      Daniel,

Maybe you should get a Wii and Wii sports game. There’s boxing on there.

      Have a great day guys!
