Jonathan Falwell Tells Pastors to Speak Out
How will Jerry Falwell’s son continue the legacy of his father?  Will he be outspoken, not only as a pastor, but as a political spokesman?  Yesterday, Jonathan Falwell spoke to a couple hundred pastors in Richmond, VA.  Here is some of what he said:  “"Where culture is breaking down, we must stand in the gap.  And if we don’t, who will?… God has called us to speak out. God has called us to make a difference. What good is it to be pastor of a church if we’re not making a difference?” You can read more here...

Don’t Mess With This Pastor… He’s Packin’ Heat!
A North Georgia man says his pastor pulled a gun after Sunday church service!  It allegedly happened outside the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in rural Walker County. John Lewis says on August 19th, he stood up in church and accused the pastor, William Reed, of having an affair in front of the entire congregation. Lewis says he walked outside and Reed followed, eventually pulling a gun from his car. “He reached in there, grabbed black case and unzipped it,” Lewis said. “Before he walked away Brother Marsh grabbed him.” Thursday, Reed’s wife said he was un-available for comment. The two men were in Walker County Magistrate Court where both were trying to convince a judge to order the arrest of the other. The judge continued the case and said he hopes the two will be able to work things out. SOURCE

An Inside Look and Retrospective of the Pastoral Transition at New Life
I recently received an email from Josh Shepherd, who attends New Life in Colorado Springs.  He writes on his blog kind of an insiders view of the good and bad of the transitional period between Ted Haggard and new pastor Brady Boyd.  He starts out with a J. R. R. Tolkien quote, “Things might have been different, but they could not have been better.” This is a good read.

    The Spiritual Gift of Dodgeball
I think I’ve included this on MMI before, but it’s worth a repeat.  Have a great day!

How will Jonathan Falwell carry on the legacy of his father? What if your pastor pulled a gun on you? In retrospect, how does a New Life Church member feel about the recent transition between Ted Haggard and Brady Boyd? And what's your spiritual gift? Regarding the pastor pulling the gun:

Obviously that was the wrong reaction; yet I think it was wrong for this man to stand up during a service and say such things.

There is a biblical way to handle this - did he talk to him privately first, then to him in the presence of ONE OR TWO witnesses, or did he simply bushwhack this pastor in public?

The episode with the gun may have been avoided altogether if the man had approached this another way, don’t you think?
