College Profs Don’t Like Us Evangelicals
Fifty-three percent of college professors have a negative view of evangelican Christians, according to a new study.  Is anyone really surprised?

And Todd Honks Off Some Episcopalians...
Got a rather irate email from a gal who is an episcopal priest yesterday.  She wrote (in part)… “I recently signed up for you website--believing the MONDAY MORNING INSIGHT was what we all need--and as an Ordained Priest in the Episcopal Church--and Monday is taken as my Sabbath considering my ministry demands on Sunday.  After reading your comments on Mr. McGreevey, I see that you too have failed to gain from reflection on what Christ calls us to do--especially those called.  You see, sir, Mr. McGreevey is a sinner---and so am I and so are you. ---and I am certain every priest and every minister --and those who are discerning a call --in this country and in this world are sinners...”

The point of the article wasn’t to point to McGreevy’s sin and point out my own sinlessness (that’s a laugh)… but to point of the irony of the state of the church today in some realms.

392 Decisions for Christ at Hampton, VA Revival
I got this report via email from David Oliver yesterday:  Liberty Baptist Church, in Hampton, VA experienced what can only be described as a touch from God.  Over 392 people accepted Christ and came forward for baptism in the 4 days.  Some said people would not come on Sunday night and certainly not on Monday or Tuesday but they did!  On Sunday morning, a glimpse of what God was going to do as a large group came for salvation. People began to tell others.  Every night the crowd grew as God moved as only He can.The meeting was originally scheduled Sun-Tues. but we extended it an extra night and over 80 made decisions that night and 60 were baptized!  People got excited about what God can do.  One man was supposed to be on military assignment in Italy but was delayed 2 days and was invited to the meeting.  He got saved and baptized.  One teenager got saved on Sunday, brought 4 friends with him during the week and they all got saved and baptized.  An employer paid all his employees overtime to come and 6 got saved.  One couple invited over 15 of their friends and 2 gave their lives to Christ!

126 Receive Christ at Elevation Church
Steven Furtick reports “100 adults accepted Christ yesterday in our Sunday morning worship services! Glory to God!  Then 26 high school students stood to receive Christ at our first ever high school worship experience last night.  A total of 126 salvation decisions on the day!!!

Is it just me, or are we starting to hear more stories about these types of harvests?  I’ll share the stories here as I hear about them!

Des Moines Church Delivers 1.5 Million Meals to Haiti; 66,000 meals to Local Area
This spring the Lutheran Church of Hope here challenged its members to provide a million meals to hungry people. When the “alleluias” of Easter arrived, this congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) exceeded all expectations: it collected nearly 1.6 million meals to send to Haiti and distributed another 66,000 meals in the Des Moines area.  The meals bound for people in Haiti are expected to arrive in June.  “It was crazy—a good crazy,” said congregation staff member Deb Gawlik. She said people got involved in the Lenten project because “it’s the power of doing something for somebody else.” More than two-thirds of the congregation’s 6,700 members volunteered in a three-pronged effort. Most volunteers measured out portions of rice, soy, dried vegetables and protein in pre-
labeled plastic bags bound for Haiti. Others collected and distributed 3,000 bags of groceries, containing 54,000 meals, locally. A third group prepared and delivered more than 12,000 sandwich lunches to homeless people living under bridges, underpasses and in camps by the Des Moines River.

There also seems to be some really neat trends in the area of “Externally Focused” ministries… churches reaching out beyond their walls to ministry to the helpless and hurting in their own communities and around the world!

    Free E-Book on Youth Ministry
Got an email from Tim Schmoyer yesterday about a new e-book he’s put online that you can download.  Tim wrote:  “This ebook was written for the small-church youth leader who volunteers their time from a huge heart for students but has very little training and even feels a little lost in this whole youth ministry thing. It’s also for the new youth pastor who is just starting out in his or her first youth ministry position and needs some pointers to help get started and tips to avoid common mistakes. However, that said, there are still plenty of ideas here that will benefit even the veteran youth worker.  The ebook is completely free, so please take the liberty to share it with whoever you think it may benefit.  It can be downloaded here...

Things I’ve Only Ever Seen in Orlando
Three things I saw in Orlando that I’ve only ever seen in Orlando:
    1.  A Rent-to-Own Tire Store (huh?  I always thought after I put them on my car, I’d kinda HAVE to own them… guess not.)
    2.  Three fifty-something men wearing flashing-lighted mickey mouse ears in Tony Roma’s restaurant.  And being proud of it.
    3.  I saw a fat man talking to a hotel valet park attendant.  The man then lifted his shirt and scratched his fat belly without thinking twice.  (Something you only do when on vacation, I guess).

24 Hour a Day LIVE Online Worship Services
I was pretty excited to see an ad for a church that has been holding a 24/7 praise and worship vigil recently.  They said that they’ve had a continuous prayer service and worship band 24/7 for some time now.  I’d never heard of them, and went to their website to watch, only to find that the live feed was $10 a month.  Nice try, guys.

    Slice of Laodicea is Back
Got word yesterday as well that the Slice of Laodicea website is back up, running now as a corporate blog for VYC America Radio Network.  Still run by Ingrid though; and from the looks yesterday, she’s up and going with the same old stuff (minus the archive for SOME strange reason).

    I need your help!!!

Do you want the good news or the bad news? The good news... over 500 people are now in the Kingdom from just two new reports; and over 1.5 million meals are headed to Haiti. The bad news... College professors don't like evangelicals; Todd honks off a priest; Slice is back; and you don't want to see what I saw in Orlando. All this and more in today's buzz...

Hey, hey! Thanks for all the good news reported! Great to hear!! Keep the good stuff comin’.... Thank you Lord!

As to “honks off?” Didn’t realize you were in your car. (see - this is where audio could be used)

Like the buzz thing. Just make sure you’re talking about things to talk about and not someone’s hair or lack therefore of. And also, buzz cuts can hurt. Just ask the guy who got his ear nicked by the barber. Men, as we all know, are more sensitive about their hair than women.

I wrote my strongest comment to date on one of the other posts this morning. Before I had clicked it to post - a son came in and got on my puter while I was on the phone. He said, “Oh, you really didn’t want to post that. You would have stayed at your puter all day long.” LOL!!
