What Does Elton John Need More:  A Woman or Jesus?

What Does Elton John Need More:  A Woman or Jesus?

John continues:  "Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East - you're as good as dead."  Here's the article.

    A couple of thoughts:

    1.  Just because Jesus was compassionate and super-intelligent, doesn't mean he was gay.

    2.  Jesus wants us to be loving and forgiving, but that has nothing at all to do with 'gayness'.

But you may be surprised that I agree with Elton John on a couple of things.

    1.  Many Christians are cruel.

    2.  Many Christians aren't loving, forgiving, or compassionate.

In fact, many Christians are unloving, unforgiving, and rude.  And, quite frankly, those are probably the only types of Christians that Elton John has ever met.

Here's our problem:  I think we'd much rather see Elton John delivered from his homosexuality than see Elton John come to know Jesus.

And... truth be told, I think that's the way many Christians feel about all homosexuals.

Don't get me wrong.  I think homosexuality is Biblically wrong.  So is adultery, cheating on your taxes, gossip and gluttony.  It's just that some sins we allow more than others (before, during, and AFTER conversion)

I mean... if we could just get them to change their sexuality, maybe they would accept Jesus.

In reality, maybe if they'd accept Jesus, it would change their sexuality.

QUESTION:  What does Elton John need more?  A woman?  or Jesus?

    Your thoughts?

      We all need Jesus more.

Most men need a woman (and vis-versa).

The fact that Christians (and non-Christians) are cruel toward others for all kinds of things is both an issue and a smoke-screen.

The fact that this smoke-screen is causing many Christians to over-react in the opposite direction (pendulum swing) is an issue.

Perhaps what we need to do is love Elton John, and not in the way a “fan” would do.  Homosexuality is considered an enemy of God, but God loves his enemies just as he loves those who love Him.

To be rescued from “sin” just takes looking at the person, like the woman at the well, and forgive them, just as Jesus did.  Treating the person the way YOU wish to be treated.

Jesus would love a gay or lesbian the same way he loved Judas.  And Judas ended up betraying him.

I don’t claim to be a scientist and don’t fully understand the genetics behind how our bodies and brains function, and I do believe that God has given us all the insights to understand and map the mind.  But it is the soul that reveals the living God, and His Kingdom.

When people use the Bible against homosexuality, I wonder if these same believers see how much of the story is about how we all disobey God’s will through out our lives.  We need to see the way God does which takes a whole new way of seeing.

We have to quit reading the Bible in a Geo-Roman POV.  If we were to all read, and live out the story of the Bible, from a Jewish/Hebrew POV, then and ONLY then will the transforming power of His Word will show the truth about gays, straights and ALL his children.

“Here’s our problem:  I think we’d much rather see Elton John delivered from his homosexuality than see Elton John come to know Jesus.”

If Elton John came to know Jesus, was saved by Him, which would cause him to repent of his sins, wouldn’t he be delivered from his homosexuality in the process?

      CS,

Perhaps (although maybe not immediately), but Christians on the whole seem far more interested in seeing gays delivered from being gay than in seeing them delivered from being lost. and we think that homosexuality is a more serious sin than, say, greed. It is not.

This is just evidence that Elton has a guilty conscience and is trying to justify himself so he will feel better about himself. It won’t work.
