The Key is “Are You Monogamous”?

Last week, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America voted that gay pastors could be sanctioned by the church, as long as they were 'monogamous gays'.

    Sure, that makes sense.

We wouldn't want any gay pastors that are 'sleeping around'.  That just wouldn't be right.

What if we took other things and somehow put a twist on them?

You can drive drunk, as long as you don't hit anybody.

You can be really, really fat if you only eat reeses peanut butter cups.

You can slap your wife (or same sex partner), as long as you don't slap other people.

You can sleep around, as long as you use a condom or don't get anybody pregnant.

You can lie, just not about anything serious or life-threatening.

You see... when you try to twist things around to make them politically correct rather than Biblically correct, you come up with some strange things.

I'm afraid that's what the ELCA did last week.

    What do you think?

Yep…you can steal as long as it’s from rich people.  grin

Or you can murder as long as it’s someone in your family…killing other people’s family members is just wrong.

Well, just because the Bible says something… does that make it true??? Evidently a lot of people aren’t so sure…

Bad trend. Look for some major denomination-splitting…

I couldn’t agree more.  The Bible draws lines and so must we.  It’s not a matter of acceptance or tolerance.  This is an issue of adhering to Biblical principles in spite of societal influences.

“If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?”
      Matthew 12:25-27

Satan means “accuser.” If the Accuser excludes the accuser, who on earth will be the parishioners.

Christ died on the cross of religious illusion and a social reality.

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
      John 4:22-24

When we validate our personal tendencies and temptations as personality and identity, the we can validate all our actions as born out of divine design. “I am what I am.” Popeye

I rest in the fact that God’s people hear their Shepherd’s voice.  When they no longer hear it because their church has become thoroughly conformed to the prevailing culture, the true believers will leave and find a church that believes in the authority of scriptural teaching.

I can not rest my hope in some final schism. The separation of the sheeps and the goats is not one of sundering the doctrinally correct correct from the erroneous, but a separation of the heart so in tune with God that seeing Him in the least of these our brethern the heart could not help but serve Him through serving them.

Neither being homosexuality, nor gay, is simply engaging in a behavior…anal intercourse is. The heart of the annointed is in the ever and recurring imperfect attempts at allegiance and fidelity, the flesh of that has historically been heterosexual monogamy.

Jesus warns us in the Gospel of John about elevating human traditions and doctrines to the level of divine imperative, suggesting that the impetus is frequently transparently self serving.

I can see why you don’t think monogamous gay relationships are valid since the idea of faithfulness is long gone from the Christian church.  Half of so-called Christians in the churches today are divorced even though Jesus said its FORBIDDEN and yet in the midst of all this SIN all the sorry self righteous Christians can worry about are gay people.  The hypocrisy is disgusting.  Christians are disgusting.
