“As far Moses on Mount Sinai is concerned, it was either a supernatural cosmic event, which I don’t believe, or a legend, which I don’t believe either, or finally, and this is very probable, an event that joined Moses and the people of Israel under the effect of narcotics,” Shanon told Israeli public radio on Tuesday.
Moses was probably also on drugs when he saw the “burning bush,” suggested Shanon, who said he himself has dabbled with such substances.
“The Bible says people see sounds, and that is a clasic phenomenon,” he said citing the example of religious ceremonies in the Amazon in which drugs are used that induce people to “see music.”
High on Mount Sinai, Moses was on psychedelic drugs when he heard God deliver the Ten Commandments, an Israeli researcher claimed in a study published this week. Such mind-altering substances formed an integral part of the religious rites of Israelites in biblical times, Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem wrote in the Time and Mind journal of philosophy.

If you don’t like the answer, make up one that you do. My research indicates that Benny is a very intelegent psychologist, which I don’t believe, a very honest researcher, which I don’t believe either, or finally, and this is very probable, on some mind altering drug himself.

I think maybe Benny was on psychodelic drugs when he wrote this.
Thanks Bart. Making up an answer you like is exactly what is happening here. How many people will just believe this idiot because he has more letters after his name then they do.

You feeling okay, Peter? You doing all right? Because you and I are in total agreement on this one, and I just checked my temperature—I’m normal. =)

CS,
You might be surprised at all the things we might agree on…
As for you being normal… I’m doubtin’ it.

Well, I meant that my _temperature_ was normal, in this instance. No guarantees about anything else. I mean, I’m pretty abnormal without having to do anything weird like climbing some mountain to get stoned or something.
