The Reuben Armstrong Show airs on Streaming Faith which is the largest Christian based website in the world and broadcasts in eight states and on TV around the World. Armstrong will release a new book titled “Snakes in the Pulpit.” The book is scheduled for release on August 29th, 2007. Armstrong will be sending a certified letter to these four pastors asking them to resign from their positions as Pastors because they are “deceiving true believers.”
In “Snakes in the Pulpit” Armstrong states, “...these four pastors are using the word of God to manipulate the true believers for fame and fortune.” This book will expose the deception that these four “pulpit pimps”, as Armstrong defines them in his book, are using the word of God to get rich and support their royal family. According to Armstrong, these mega-pastors have deceived thousands and thousands of people and yet are raking millions and millions of dollars from their extremely large congregations.
There are several mega-churches that are featured on national TV and radio that have spawned a new type of celebrity: “Mega-pastors.” These men have risen in stature and gained the public’s trust as irreproachable men of God as their churches have attracted hundreds of thousands of members and millions of viewers and listeners.
“Judgement day is coming: their status nor money won’t get them to heaven,” Armstrong said.

I love press releases. Well, I should say... I love to read press releases, especially Christian ones, because sometimes they just seem so jaded and/or out of context, that they make me smile. Here's one from "Streaming Faith". Who is "Streaming Faith"? I'm glad you asked. They are the "largest Christian based website IN THE WORLD". Plus, they broadcast in EIGHT states (that's nearly 1/5 of the whole United States!). OK... that said, here's a press release from one of their big stars: Reuben Armstrong (of the Reuben Armstong show, of course)...

listern kevin i am not going to get mad about any of this but a lot of times when we want to justify that we are the only ones that are right we begin to take God’s word out of context so read Matthew 7: 1,2 this will sum it all up, another thing in phillippians Paul was trying to do every thing to win the christians heart and get them to understand the love of God and also unity when they fall in love with God ask God for widsom not just knowledge. All I have to say is that if he Knows God so well, why is he judging everyone else?
Isn’t that God’s right. Did God not say “ Judge ye not, for you shall be judged” ?
If people are doing wrong, then they are the ones who has to answer for their sins.
You take what you need from their message. No one says to believe everthing that you hear. Not only that, but God is in Control all the time! He can build you up, or bring you down.
Why should anyone worry about what others are doing?
We can only save ourselves.

1, we can’t save ourselves, our sinful nature won’t allow us to do this…
2. as the church, we are called to expose the false prophets amongs us; God said He would judge the world in His second coming. (But we are to expose those who are false prophets.)
3. we have alot of people quoting Scripture but are taking the Scripture out of context. (Isogesis instead of exegesis).
4. popularity is not preaching, fame, health and wealth is not preaching. Motivational speaking is not preaching. Everybody wants to be uplifted by a speach that tickles the emotions, but few wants to be preached to.
I don’t care who they are and how big their names may be, but if they are not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ then they are to be exposed.
John the Baptist called them, “A generation of vipors…”(paraphrasing)… Bro. Armstrong called them snakes in the pulpit. Both fit who they are…
God said in His word, “the day would come when men would not endure sound doctrine, but would have itchy ears for fables and doctrines of the devil.” (paraphrasing)…
There’s a difference in motivational speaking and preach the Gospel. Those who are motivational speakers seek their reward down here. Whereas those who are preachers of the Gospel seek their reward in Heaven…
I rather worship at a small storefront church where the Gospel is being preached then a mega church where motivational messages are presented…

ok, Ive never ranted like that simika. Its very clear, these pastors of mega churches are just like the snake oil salesmen, they are decietful, slick, ignorant of God’s word, and they are destroying the church. period. I think most people will eventually realize the damage and they will leave these mega churches and start living geniune first century christianity!

yes, Christianity has an distored view by the world and even by those whom apart of the church. the problem with today’s Christians and the Christians of the 1st century is: the first century pastors sought to the holistic ministry of the apostles (justification, santification, regeneration, etc…); whereas today’s pastors are seeking to fill up churches with un-regenerated, un-saved folks.
this mega-church is a mega-problem to biblical Christianity…
these pastors with jets, 20 bedroom mansions, $500, 000 cars…

Listen up people, Psalm 105, was for the time of Abraham, and the move of God on his life and his future generations, the Jews. Matthew tells us the Jesus came to fulfill the law not abolish. The law as we know it (the old testament) is fulfilled. The role of the prophet is fulfilled. Dont be fooled by these snakes in the pulpit, so-called prophets. Look at them and their wealth and look at you. Scripture tells us that the poor will alwyas be with us. Most of the members in those mega congregations are the poor, giving everything to the head. Don;t become victims to these serpents. When you call a lie the truth you are not judging, You are giving light to the false teachers of today. Read the book before you criticize the write. May the Lord open your eyes and hearts where you worship; but most importantly; get to know the living word of God for yourself and you will then see the snakes in the pulpit.

I was and am completely afraid to purchase this book. I have my personal feelings about mega churches and any church for that matter.
I grew up in a church where the pastor slept with his daughter and produced a child who was wheel chair bound as a quad. Even though I loved this “pastor” dearly, as it is not my job to judge anyone because I am not perfect, my church under went a change to a new “pastor” who has a major love for women!
What are we suppose to do? We need to believe that God has chosen someone to lead us, but can’t we pray and believe on our own? Where is our faith? I choose not to let anyone lead me because I can and do pray on my own. I have a personal relationship with God and I believe he answers all my prayers, selfish or not.
I know we need to have a leader, but I do not believe for one second that I need to listen to TD, or Creflo or Joel for any reason. I am not saying that I don’t listen or watch them, I am saying “I don’t need them to tell me how to Love God”! That is all.
We are extremely weak in our faith these days… EXTREMELY WEAK!

not only are we weak in our Christian faith, but there’s also an scandal of the evangelical mind. Christians in this century has become lazy and ignorant of what the Bible teaches. As an result of many ingorance, the church is suffering with un-qualified leaders from a Biblical stand point.
today, church leaders are appointed based upon their economic status, based upon their ability to woo the crowd, based upon their talents, based upon their popularity and based upon man’s carnality.
Paul throught the Holy Spirit has given us guidelines on how to appoint leaders for the church. Times has changed, but God’s Word stays the same.
Today we have more self appointed and self called people in leadership than ever in the history of Christiandom.
Today we have women preachers, gay preachers, and money & fame hungry preachers leading our people astray.
(Acoording to the Bible, these are all false prophets…)
God never promised the believer popularity, fame or fortune. But He did promise every believer a cross and a crown.
There are some leaders in the churches that’s has the heart of God. And to find one is like finding a needle in the haystack or priceless pearls in the bottom of the ocean. Once you find a leader that God has given the church after His own heart, then you have someone precious….
And the preachers that’s after God’s own heart are not caught up on themselves, are not seeking their own desires and aren’t spoiled by filty lucre.
These are the preachers who only desire is to do the Father’s will and bring God glory…
Many confuse theactrics from the genuine move of the Holy Spirit. What the Holy Spirit don’t blow away with the wind is conusmed by fire.

once upon a time i gave to the lord/church with a cheerful heart. but now in the last few years. i cant muster a cheerful heart about giving, in the back of my mind i can hear all the reasons i should give, it has gone beyond god and his word to give ,it has got to be every angle in the world to give. people talks about people taking god out of schools and ect. well they have almost taken him out of the pulpit, i feel like christine, the church is weak in fath, but let all us christians pray that we will get back to our first love jesus christ, just love god and people, and help some one along the way.

Who appointed him to tell the truth? Could it be the same person who appointed the snakes? Everyone has a story to tell.
I agree with Christine, we have a direct line to GOD, some may or may not believe it is through Jesus Christ, and I do not judge them. However, if we believe in him and have faith, HE will lead our paths.
