What do you think?
Todd
What? Huh? Yes, the Charlotte Observer actually did a newspaper article on Steven Furtick's... wardrobe. One woman calls him the "young peacock of the pulpit." Another writer says that his "David Beckham-look reeks(s) of style over substance. Here... read the article for yourself. What do you think? My first impression is why. Why would this article ever be written in the first place? Would it have been written if he wore Brooks Brothers? Just wondering...

just a quick thought…. some will be quick to criticize $100 pair of jeans but a $400 suit… well that’s just fine…

Pastor Furtick did a “Style File” interview with the newspaper, prompting the responses in the newer article.

I was watching the video yesterday for the, “Mad Church Disease,” release, where Anne was being interviewed by a pastor friend who sported a similar look to Furtick, with a manicured goatee, a spiked ‘do, and clothes I see young people wearing in upscale malls. And pastors all over the nation are sporting the same thick-rimmed glasses, have metrosexual looks, and seem deeply entrenched into the latest fashion trends. And more and more, I find myself wanting to see pastors who look like… well… pastors.
I know, as I write this, I have long hair that I keep in a well-groomed ponytail (I’m not a pastor, mind you), but there was a time when a pastor would walk into the room and people would sort of snap to attention as they saw him enter. And he was dressed modestly with one or two suits for Sundays. His clothes were a frame for his face, and not a huge priority, because he was more about doing the Lord’s work than going to the stylist for four hours and shopping at Aeropostale or The Gap.
But now I find myself being distracted by the casual and bordering-on-worldly fashion, appearance, demeanor, and oratory skills employed by pastors. I find myself asking, “Am I listening to a man of God, or to a, ‘cool kid,’ from back in high school?”
I know, I may be an old fuddy-dud in some ways, but is anyone else having the same feelings?

Brad:
Could you elaborate a little more as to why you don’t have these same issues? I’d like to hear more.

Douchey. So much ego under a thin veneer of Jesus talk.
