Benny Hinn:  I Would Not Do This For Money; Most Faith Healers are Frauds

Benny Hinn:  I Would Not Do This For Money; Most Faith Healers are Frauds

Benny Hinn gives an interview to Nightline to defend himself.  He talks candidly about faith healers; and also says that he has to many times live a life of misery.

What about the people you've healed that aren't healed?  "These are things I cannot explain".  (His explanation:  "I am not the healer, God is.")  In other words... take it up with God.

Watch the video and let me know what you think...

I thought it was a great interview.  Very telling.  And a very unusual look at a very unusual religious personality.

    What do you think?

      Shawn,

You wrote: ” The prophesies that Hinn has made are questionable but are you telling me because one person says something stupid he is a false prophet?”

      Answer: YES!

When God speaks, He never gets it wrong.  So if someone claims to speak for God and gets it wrong then God did not give him the prophecy, thus he is a false prophet.

Shawn, do not take this as an insult because I do not mean it to be one, but you sound very naive and immature in your faith.  With that being said let me exhort you to study the Scriptures and use them as the filter by which you judge all teaching.  If someone teaches something that does not align with God’s Word then call them on it and ask them to repent and correct what they taught. If they refuse then you have a choice to make.  A verbal profession of faith in Christ means absolutely nothing.  Fruit testifies of the tree.

As far as my spiritual maturity goes I find it funny that people can make a claim that I am naive and immature when they have never met me…....but that’s another blog…..or comment.
All I am saying is that the same people who jump all over Benny Hinn, jumped all over the Brownsville Revival when it was going on, jump all over this or that preacher, because they disagree with their denominational theological background.  Look if Benny Hinn really said Jesus was going to be on stage with him then I would say that he has some issues.
But I have heard plenty of preachers say stupid things that they thought God was speaking to them when in reality they were speaking out of fear, anger, emotion, etc. that does not make for a false teacher.  You can say I’m immature or naive or whatever but there ARE people who have been healed at a Benny Hinn meeting…...one being Pastor Steve, who told us about it.  So who healed?  Well of course Jesus did but did he use Benny?  I guess so.
But I guess God can use any ol’ ass he wants.  (Not to be crude but everyone knows that someone was going to bring that back up!!)

Much love and thanks for the fun debate,

Shaun, you are right that God can use anyone.  I do not think that is the argument.  But even in scripture God uses the “ass” just once.  The usefulness of an individual to God is much more about God than the person.

Benny lives in a world that IMO drips with error and makes God the slave to people.  Truth be told, what bugs me more than his theology is the multitude of desperate people who give money (at his strong request) to him because they are promised by him to receive something.  A miracle, a healing, a special anointing… to name a few of the things I have personally heard him promise.

We have several elderly folks in my church and some of them ended up needing us to buy food, help with rent, get clothing for a new season (winter clothes) because they gave their money to Hinn and Copeland.

All under the promise that God would give them more.  They then were led to believe they just didn’t believe.

He lives in opulent abundance while gathering from orphans and widows.  This is a struggle for me.

He has said heretical things, from the pulpit.  He has made outrageous claims from the pulpit and some of those things have been stated here.  Your response to that was not to address those things but to shift to another argument or dismiss those things.  That is problematic since those are the very reasons some here object to Hinn.

It is not your maturity in question, nor your sincerity or your faith.  It is that you ask for the statements and when provided, do not deal with them.
