You have to watch this video. It's unbelieveable. But it leaves me with many questions:
Pastor Locked Out of Own Church, But Continues to Preach
1. How could you spend $49,000 at a men's clothing store? What in the world is this guy wearing?
2. You locked him out, but you still allow him to come to services... and preach? Seems you might need to re-think your plan. It's not working.
3. I've heard this story before... but why do you give the pastor the ability to sell church property, even when you tell him not to? And how did he pocket the 600 odd thousand dollars for himself?
4. Shouldn't enough been enough long before now? Is not the church leadership to blame for letting this happen? Read the full post here...
It was just three months ago that Bell Shoals Baptist Church lost their 44 year old pastor, Dr. Forrest Pollock, and his 13 year old son in a tragic plan crash. Last Sunday, Bell Shoals lost their much loved 47 year old worship pastor to a sudden heart attack.
Please Pray (again) for Bell Shoals
According to a report in the Florida Baptist Witness, Simeon Nix, 47, pastor of music and worship at Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, passed away Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack at his home Aug. 16.
Nix had been at Bell Shoals Baptist Church for 13 years. In May, the beloved music leader led thousands at the church’s new worship center in a Celebration of Life service for their pastor, Forrest Pollock, and Pollock’s son, Preston, who perished in a tragic plane accident in North Carolina May 12. A sad and embarrassing story hit the wires over the last few days... this time out of Australia. Michael Guglielmucci is a former pastor who had inspired hundreds of thousands of young Christians with his testimony of having terminal cancer. The problem was... he didn't. According to Adelaidenow.com.au, he is now seeking professional help. Earlier this year, Guglielmucci released a hit song The Healer which was featured on Hillsong's latest album. The song has become an anthem of faith for believers, many of whom are suffering their own illness and were praying for a miracle for Mr Guglielmucci, who has claimed for two years to be terminally ill. In one church performance that has attracted 300,000 hits on YouTube, he performs his hit song with an oxygen tube in his nose. The clip was pulled by YouTube with the advice "video no longer available."

Mark has a new book out. Here's the description: Death by Love is a unique book on the cross of Jesus Christ. While many books debate the finer points of the doctrine of the atonement, what is often lost are the real-life implications of Jesus’ death on the cross for those who have sinned and have been sinned against. Written in the form of pastoral letters, Death by Love outlines the twelve primary effects of Jesus’ death on the cross and connects each to the life of a different individual.

Tony Foeller writes, "I was watching Harrison Ford in the movie “Clear and Present Danger” recently. Toward the end of the movie his character, Jack Ryan, was duking it out with a bad guy. The bad guy had a gun while Ford’s character was unarmed. As I’m watching I think to myself, “Why doesn’t he just take out that laser-pistol-thingy or the whip he used in his other movies?”

A Leadership Lesson from Harrison Ford
The answer is obvious: the character Jack Ryan can’t use the weapon that Han Solo used in “Star Wars”. Nor can he use the weapon that Indy wielded in the “Raiders of The Lost Ark” movies. That’s just silly.
So here’s the lesson. A believer can no more fight with the weapons of this world (his/her former way of life) than Jack Ryan can fight with Han Solo’s or Indiana Jones’ weapons. It’s just silly….preposterous!...
A very powerful testimony... you'll want to watch and meet Betty:

Sorry for the lack of updates this week... it's been quite a time around here! Busy, busy, busy! But anyway...I'm glad that we solve our problems in church with a little more grace than they do in the wrestling ring. Well, at least most times...![]()

Here's the new TV commercial. What do you think?
Dan Kimball includes a couple of letters in a recent blog post that I found interesting. Not sure if these can be substantiated as fact, but take a look... it sounds about right...

I Am No Music Scholar… but…
"I am no music scholar, but I feel I know appropriate church music when I hear it. Last Sunday's new hymn - if you can call it that - sounded like a sentimental love ballad one would expect to hear crooned in a saloon. If you insist on exposing us to rubbish like this - in God's house! - don't be surprised if many of the faithful look for a new place to worship. The hymns we grew up with are all we need."
Of course, this letter was written in 1863, and the song they were talking about was "Just as I Am". Here's another one...

I've been asked by my friend and fellow Leadership Network colleague to pass on this question. We're looking for any large churches that used to hold Sunday only services that have recently added a Saturday night service. There is a church of a couple thousand who is hoping to make the leap, and would like to talk with similar churches who have already done so. Are there any churches in your area who fit into this category? If so, could you please help?

Help! Do You Know of Any Large Churches Who’ve Recently Added Saturday Night Services?
I'm a chronic workaholic, love to connect leaders with other leaders, and would consider myself somewhat of a 'maven'. Hopefully you'll find something here at MMI you'll like and will return often. If you want, you can find out more about me or follow my every step.
