Pastor Adrian Rogers, as quoted at this year’s Southern Baptist Convention Pastors’ Conference… “We have so many preachers today who are living lives of quiet desperation, drawing their breath, drawing their salary and waiting for retirement...”
"They need to get a fresh vision of Almighty God. Never has there been a day, an age or an opportunity to preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ like there is today."Does anyone out there admit to being in this category? (Or do we all just think we know people that fit into this category?)

Some of the past posts on minister burn out really apply. Adrian Rogers whom I respect deeply found the secret to being a minister long term. That is he has known the infilling of the Holy Ghost with power which lead him to truly know whom he has believed. The vision is really not new just a returning to your first love. For when you fellowship with the Most High and enter daily into his grace, then come what may your peace and joy will hold through the years and countless storms. It is when we neglect our first love and allow the duties of each day take precedence over our fellowship with our heavenly Father, that the burdens of the day grow heavy and the more we neglect our personal worship the worse our responsibilities become. Today many are burning out simply because they think doing for God is the same as being with God.
