According to the Dallas News Religion Blog, Fellowship Church and Ed Young are giving away at least two sets of Super Bowl tickets this weekend. The ticket giveaway is this Saturday, Feb. 3, at either the 5:00pm or 6:30pm service at Fellowship’s main campus in Grapevine, just north of DFW Airport. The church is also giving away a couple of Super Bowl tickets Sunday morning at its South Miami campus, where the odds of winning must be better because of the smaller number of attendees.

FOR DISCUSSION: Do you think this is an effective outreach to get people to come to Fellowship?

It is effective to attract, not to reach out. What mindset does it cause to prevail about the church and gospel I wonder.
This reminds me of the Igniter Video “MeChurch” where the would-be church goer demands superbowl tickets before he’ll join the church. That’s at http://ignitermedia.com/products/iv/singles/18/meCHURCH .
If played correctly, it sounds like this can be an effective means of bringing some people in, but it’s a minefield. It’s also extremely short notice for the winner.
All the major networks in our area (DFW) have done stories on this in the last couple of days.
Most were positive; one perhaps not so.
