Perry Noble has been coming up with some great lists here lately. Here's part of how Perry thinks you can know if you church has no vision. Great stuff...
#15 - No one is ever challenged to radically rearrange their lives to be a part of what God is doing.
#14 - God hasn’t asked you to give something up.
#13 - Everyone in your church is perfect. (If you are truly reaching lost people then you will discover that ministry is messy.)
#12 - Nothing in regards to how you lead has changed in the past year.
#11 - When your youth group wants to do something you make them have a bake sale in front of Wal Mart–but when your senior adults want to do something the church covers the cost; after all, they are tithers! (And that same church will wonder why “the youth don’t come to church anymore.”)
#10 - You always find something wrong with ministries that are seeing fruit.

#6 is always hard, though… Easier to believe in the head than in the heart.
I always liked Paul Washer’s take on “vision.”

Yeah 6 is hard, but I’ve found that usually with that comes enormous freedom, as long as they are leaving because they are disgruntled and not thinking Biblically.
I’ve experienced every one of those things in one ministry or another, and am relieved that so far we seem to be on the right track in our current ministry.
I think guarding your heart from pride, is probably the way you steer clear from most of these.
For me the money one is difficult, with new believers and not enough tithers to support the ministry. I think that is the sacrifice part for us!
But with all that faith and risk, comes great satisfaction and joy to see God come through with miraculous provision.
But it IS hard to accomplish ministry without the funds. Though I know that God ALWAYS provides.
We had a group leave and the next Sunday, we stood around for a few minutes wondering what to do.
Then we all had this wave of peace wash over us and now freedom and growth.
Sad that someone leaving a church can leave that impact.
That list is fairly limited imo..
What about…
1) No numbers of people getting saved and set free of their sin
2) no one getting healed
3) no one rising up
4) new ministries/ bible studies/ home groups being started
5) no pray group
these are real reasons why a church has no vision :rolls-eyes:
