MMI and SliceofLaodicea.com Join Forces

I’m happy to announce that MMI has entered into a strategic alliance and partnership with SliceofLaodicea.com. Now, I realize that this may come as a surprise to many of my regular readers. Ingrid has graciously allowed me to continue to be the voice of MMI. You know, I’ve always, deep down, considered myself a closet fundamentalist, even somewhat of a legalist, but the last year has really caused me to take stock at what’s really happening in today’s church...

After a lot of soul searching, I’ve decided I’m against most all that’s happening in today’s church.  Every bit of it.  From Rick Warren and his purpose-driven drivel, to the worship ‘bands’ who play rock music with their drums and electric guitars while their girl singers wear short skirts; to all the people who think they’re cool because they can wear shorts and no shoes to church to hear their ears tickled by some version of the NIV or New King James.  I’ve finally figured it out… and this has to stop, folks. And I will do whatever I can in my power to stop it.

We’ve got to get back to the basics. And our new strategic partnership with Slice will give us the resources we need to change YOUR church back into something God (notice I used a capital ‘G’) would be proud of.  I hope you’ll follow along for the journey.

Please be gracious as we go down this new road.  I’d love to hear your comments, and I’ll post them as long as they are kind toward me.

Todd

From your mouth to God’s ears, oh that I could wear short and T-Shirts to church. I like the TNIV, maybe even the NRSV lost sinner that I am.

If this came on a Friday I would know how to take it. Coming after a week of rest and refocusing, I’m a little confused.

Ohhh.. (he said as he hits himself in the forehead) I just realized today is April 1.

Is it Friday?  If not, then I think someone has kidnapped Todd and is hoping to fund their watchdoggie ministry with the ransom money we’ll all chip in to get him back.

I will refuse to bargin with terrorists, no matter how many times the kidnappers post threads on MMI.

I am glad you finally see the light. I will be praying that you will finally use this forum for the right reasons and to bring the proper respect where it has been lagging.

We are actually going to sacrifice real animals this week at our church on an alter in an effort to return to pure OT laws. And I am thinking of re-instating polygamy. Your thoughts on that?

-your new follower and fellow disciple.

    Todd,

I gave a copy of the Hyles church manual if you need it.  Also, we may be able to partner with the Sword of The Lord in giving pastor’s a discount on new subscriptions.

hilarious! Made me laugh, but in all humility I must say I didn’t fall for it.

Love your blog Todd and look forward to it every week.

    Todd,

You tie-waring, KJV-totin’, organ-loving punk! You so got me! I read and re-read the post and thought...no way, Todd has gone to the dark side! I even read the category to see if it was “Church Humor.”

Ooooh man, I feel like I got just got punk’d.

I am glad you are back...i have been in MMI withdrawal.

Okay, you got me.  I was going to ask if you were feeling okay today, and then I realized what day it is.

You realize, of course, that this jesting is going to make you a target of the “slicers” of Laodicea all the more.  We cannot have fun and use humor if we wish to walk in true righteousness!

Where DID you go for spring break?!

  • Posted by

Wow - I’m shocked!  However, I think the pendulum swings both ways.  While I don’t agree with some of what I see in today’s church, I didn’t agree with a lot of what I saw in yesterday’s church either.  Both churches have their share of wrongs.  The idea is to be balanced.  Being careful not to go too far on either extreme.

I hope that’s where you stand.

Wow, Todd, weren’t last year’s April Fools jokes a little more subtle?

I completely disagree with the direction you are taking.  I’m here to beg for you to enter into the conversation, light some candles, meditate in a prayer labyrinth 3 hours a day, get a bunch of piercings, practice chanting, start swearing in your sermons, and to free yourself from the shackles of absolute truth.  That and read a lot of Spong and you’ll officially be worthy of joining the 4th wave neo-orthodox reformation conversation.  You will of course have to provide your own concubine and prayer beads.

    Todd,

It’s about time that you woke up and smelled God’s coffee!!

I’m glad that you have decided to move from the dark side!

    Welcome to reality!

    Affectionately Yours,

Probably the funniest post I’ve read today.  Thanks for the burst of humor and it’s good to get the posts again.  It’s been too quiet around here.

Very good Todd! While you chose the broad ranging April Fool’s joke I went more for the precision attack. Check it out at
