No Wonder We Christians Get a Bad Rap…

Check out this supposedly real email from back in 2002:
Dear Mr. and Mrs. XXXXX
We are writing to you as members of the Evergreen Homeowner’s Association about a concern that has occupied all our minds since you moved into this neighborhood. We are a congregate group of good Christian and God fearing people. The display you have set up on the outer section of your lot has us a bit concerned as the statue appears to be a type of Pagan worshipping symbol, unlike the other lawn decorations in our neighborhood. Shirley Whitley, a neighbor of yours says that this is a Satanic being and that you may be involved in the Occult. We have all noticed strange goings on around the neighborhood. There are flashing lights in the sky and numerous dead animals in the road. We understand that you are a homeowner, but if you will read your declaration of restrictions, obscene or vulgar displays on your property are not allowed. We insist that you remove this questionable display at once. Our children are not to be influenced by Devil worship and deviant behavior.

Post Your Comments:Wow… It’s funny that people can take this seriously. What’s next? I can see the same type of people getting mad at God for rainbows after storms because it just might possibly cause people to think that God publically endorses and encourages the homosexual lifestyle…
I think that the name of the website is more appropriate for identifying the person who wrote the e-mail than saying, “Christian.” After all, it is, “E-mails From Crazy People.”

If you read the whole thing, it gets a pretty hoaxy feel to it.
Still, there’s truth to the fact that fanatic (fanatic: won’t change their mind and won’t change the subject) Christians can be a hazard to themselves, their faith, and their neighbors.
Does look kinda hoax-ey, although we Christians worry about a lot of stupid stuff and too often try to get people who don’t share our beliefs to share our values…
If this person is for real, they would be VERY uncomfortable in my community… Buddist prayer flags on every block, a Tibetan prayer wheel in our community botanical garden, at the hospital we’ve got a labrynith which claims “magical healing properties” and the list goes on and on and on.

I have mix feelings about this… we must also be aware that Satan is setting up his kingdom everywhere Christ has His set up… if this is a Christian community and santanic statues are displayed, I believe the community is in their right to approach the homeowner… but the Christians must approach them in a godly manner… prayer is also a good way to approach this situation…
we must not be naive in our thinking… that’s what Satan wants us to do… oh this or that don’t hurt… let’s pray for that community that Satan and santanic rituals would be ran out…
