Remember a few months back with Robert H. Schuller (the dad) and Robert A. Schuller (the son) parted company? Well, the younger Schuller is getting ready to announce his future plans, which include (ironically) an emphasis on TV ministry and an internet presence.
According to Robert A.'s wife, Donna, on her new blog, she thinks that an official announcement from her husband will come later this month. In Donna's words: "These days Robert has been very hard at work developing a new Christian ministry, which will allow him the honor of continuing to speak inspiration and hope to the world," she writes. "He will do this once again spreading the good news of Christ on television and on the World Wide Web. More to come on this very creative and new way of doing ministry when it is time."
It seems to me that starting a new TV ministry would be a difficult proposition these days. But I wish Robert A. well...
In other Crystal Cathedral news...
According to an article in the OC Register:
Donna Schuller’s blog also talks about her son, Robert “Bobby” Schuller’s new endeavor, the St. Patrick Project. Bobby Schuller, 27, has run his church, The Gathering, in the Crystal Cathedral’s campus since 2006. But now that his father is not associated with the cathedral, The Gathering will move to the American Legion Building at 143 S. Lemon St. in Old Towne Orange. The Gathering will be a non-denominational Christian church that will minister not only to the surrounding community, but also to people all over the world through its Web site, Bobby Schuller said.
“We want to be an online guide or resource for spiritual teaching,” he said.
But, he added, he is most excited about the St. Patrick’s Project, which he and his family have started as part of The Gathering to get the church and its members involved in community-oriented activities.
“I don’t believe our church should be like an ingrown toenail,” he said. “We need to work in the community to make a difference and by that I don’t mean converting people to our way of thinking, but cleaning up graffiti, mentoring children, sending single parents to college and helping the homeless.”
The Gathering, which now has about 150 members, will move from the Crystal Cathedral to its new home in Old Towne Orange in June, Bobby Schuller said. Robert A. Schuller will be a “pastor emeritus” at The Gathering and the St. Patrick’s Project.
“He is going to be available and in the background, helping us and leading different groups,” he said.
Bobby Schuller said he has no hard feelings for the Crystal Cathedral or those involved with it.
“This is something my wife, Hannah, and I have dreamed about all along,” he said.
Crystal Cathedral spokesman Michael Nason said he and others at the Cathedral have not heard any announcements from Robert A. Schuller or his family.
“Our attitude has always been one of encouragement and support,” he said. “I’m thrilled that (Robert A. Schuller) is starting his own TV and Web ministry. We would do anything we can to support him in his endeavors.”

Let’s hope and pray that Schuller Jr. decides to not follow in his father’s model and instead preaches biblical, doctrinally-sound messages.

If the stories about the rift between him and his father are true....
The son should take the title “Hour of Power” and the father should get a new one… “Hour of Glower”
Did she really call it a “long, desolate” winter? In southern California? We had six inches of snow here three days ago. Yikes.
Wow, C.S. Sounds like you’ve cornered the market on “biblical and theologically sound” preaching. You should probably start your own TV and Internet ministry. Maybe you already have one. Care to share how we can all be enlightened?
