Southeast Christian Church will launch a branch campus in Clark County, Ind., the first in a series of satellite locations planned by Kentuckiana’s largest congregation. Rusty Russell, son of retired longtime Southeast pastor Bob Russell and a staff member at Southeast, will become the campus pastor at the location. Groundbreaking is slated for later this year...
Rusty Russell and current senior minister Dave Stone announced the plans at this weekend’s worship services. They did not specify a location in Clark County.
Stone, when he succeeded Bob Russell last year, had unveiled plans for multiple campuses in the Louisville area — a change in strategy from the congregation’s past practice of constructing ever-bigger sanctuaries at a single site.
Part of the Clark County campus’s worship service will be conducted live, while the sermon will be telecast from the church’s main site. Russell has served on Southeast’s ministry staff for several years.
Southeast, one of the largest congregations in the nation, averages about 18,500 attendance each week at its Blankenbaker Parkway facility.
