WACO (AP) - The family of a Waco pastor who was electrocuted during a baptism has settled its wrongful death lawsuit against an electrical contractor. Neither side would release details of the settlement stemming from the October 2005 death of the Reverend Kyle Lake during a baptism at University Baptist Church…
Lake’s widow and parents had filed suit against MP Electric of Waco seeking unspecified damages.
The lawsuit alleged MP Electric was negligent in the design, assembly and installation of the church baptistry heaters, resulting in the electrocution death of the 33-year-old pastor.
A lawyer for the company says it’s pleased to reach a financial resolution with the family.
A lawyer for the family says they’re grateful to put this part of the process behind them.
About 800 worshippers were packed into the church when the accident occurred.
