With all due respect my friend, being the son of a revered teacher and having a teaching nature and calling on my life, I cannot find anything in some of your posts addressed to Kent and my comments to be in any way considered an attempt to teach, but rather they are attempts to strike back. As for a recent charge that we quote verse of the Bible “out of context” you could not be further from the truth. I would challenge you to find and present one example where I have done that. I have a great distaste for people who miquote and misinterpret scripture, and as such hold myself to as high a standard when using scripture to make a point or rebuke another. Consider 2 Cor 4:2-4 which states that the true children of the living God – have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

One final note Jeff, you mentioned that you have Parkinson’s, my prayers go out to you brother. Having studied and studied the aspartame issue for years and as a diabetic come out of its use and abuse after years and suffering from some of the symptoms of aspartame poisoning I must ask you if you are a consumer of diet products containing aspartame as they can sometimes lead to a diagnosis of PD as symptoms of aspartame poisoning can be similar to those of PD. If you do drink diet drinks and consume many products with aspartame I would suggest you eradicate them from your diet and see if you note an improvement in your condition. I liked the video segment on microchurches - seems like a new name for “home church” to me. Concerns? Accountability. If the micro is an intentional work under the supervision of a “mother” church it should work out. This also avoids some of the arguments presented about weak doctrine (assuming the “mother” church is sound in doctrine and careful in evaluating the person leading the micro).

Evangelism is another concern. Small groups do two things: stagnate into a cozy “us” group or grow.

My first church that considered me I remember had 12 in attendance (including my family of four). We considered ourselves a church. It grew to 35 in two years.

I like the idea of doing a church in a home. The first church I planted started with 3 couples in a living room. God did all the work. We played our guitars and the house had a piano. Worship was simple, prayers sincere, and teaching biblical. I was halfway through my education with Moody Bible Institute and mentored by a close friend who was a pastor and evangelist.
