Today’s Buzz:  “I Looked Up and Saw the Face of Christ in the Fence and I said, “Whoa,” and more!

Another Jesus sighting in today's buzz. Also: More on the Ted Haggard Fund-raising story, Granger's Dress Code, Favorite Hymns of the United Methodists, a popular Christian author endorses Hillary for President, and the new 'diet fork'. You can't miss today's BUZZ!...

Overseers Call Haggards Fundraising Letter “Premature”
The saga continues… ”He’s not going to be moving into the Phoenix Dream Center,” said Mike Ware, the head of a four-member panel of ministers overseeing the fallen preacher’s spiritual restoration.  Ware, a senior pastor at Westminster’s Victory Church, spoke by phone with the Rocky Mountain News before he met with Haggard in Phoenix yesterday afternoon to investigate his fund-raising effort that Ware called “premature.” A minister for the church that runs the Phoenix Dream Center, said Haggard was mistaken when he stated in a fundraising e-mail that he and his family were moving into the halfway house where he and his wife would minister to residents, including the homeless, recovering addicts, prostitutes, ex-cons and other “broken people.” More here.

This just in… more...
Haggard “is not moving into the Dream Center,” according to one of Ted’s counselors. “That e-mail he sent out is wrong, and it’s not going to happen.” Source. Meanwhile… little is known about the outcome of a meeting Tuesday in Phoenix between Haggard and his spiritual overseers. Mike Ware and a second overseer, the Rev. Tim Ralph, of New Covenant Fellowship in Larkspur, flew to Phoenix to meet with Haggard, while two other panel members joined via teleconference. “It went well,” was all Ware, the head of the four-member panel of ministers overseeing Haggard’s spiritual restoration, said after the meeting. He declined to comment further, saying the overseers would release a statement later today. Source.

Granger’s Dress Code
Interesting how things change.  While some websites would probably show this and say it’s a grand example of how quickly a church can slide away from “truth”, I thing it’s a great example of how Granger has been able to change with the culture without compromising the Word.  And let’s face it… there is not one church in America that does everything exactly the way it did 10 years ago.  (Well, actually there are, I guess… sadly).  Anyway, take a look at this top secret Granger memo, made public by Kem Meyer!

Favorite Hymns of United Methodists
Dean McIntyre has put together a list of favorite hymns for 2006 from United Methodists.  He asked more than 1500 people their favorites.  I can honestly say, not growing up Methodist, I don’t know some of these…
“Amazing Grace”
“Here I Am, Lord”
“How Great Thou Art”
“O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing”
“Hymn of Promise”
“In the Garden”
“Great Is Thy Faithfulness”
“Holy, Holy, Holy”
“Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”
“Spirit Song”; “Blessed Assurance”
“Old Rugged Cross”
“Lord, I Lift Your Name on High”
“Lift High the Cross”
“Sanctuary”; “Be Thou My Vision”
“It Is Well with My Soul”
“Shine, Jesus, Shine”
“Christ, the Lord, Is Risen Today”
“Because He Lives”
“Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”
“On Eagle’s Wings”

Popular Christian Author Endorses Hillary for President
Some time ago, I made an effort to remove from this website all political statements made by me in the past.  Many of these statements were incomplete statements, and many were dated. And a good many of the emails I received about these statements indicated that they were confusing to my newer Christian readers. I felt, when I removed the material, that I was doing what was best for my personal vocation --- which is, to write books for Jesus Christ. My vocation at this time remains unchanged.  I am committed to writing books for the Lord, and those books right now, are books about His life on Earth as God and Man.  I hope my books will reach all Christians, regardless of denomination or background. This has become my life. However, I have come to feel that my Christian conscience requires of me a particular political statement at this time. I hope you will read this statement in a soft voice.  It is meant to be spoken in a soft voice.  SOURCE:  AnneRice.com

“I looked up and saw the face of Christ in the fence and I said, “Whoa.”
Emily West was doing some meditating over the weekend in her sister’s backyard in central Lodi when something caught her eye.  “I looked up and saw the face of Christ in the fence and I said, “Whoa,” West said. She called her sister Ana over to ask what she saw. She too agreed, it was the Son of God.  Emily says the profile of Jesus can be seen on a knot of wood, along the fence which was built about two years ago.  “No one noticed it until now,” said West.  She says whatever the image is, it’s helped renew her faith after a life-threatening illness. “I’m a breast cancer survivor. I’ve been through a lot recently. I take this as a sign things will be ok from now on,” West said.  The family, who is Catholic, plans to invite the parish priest to see the image, too. A picture of the image can be seen here.

New Diet Fork Helps You Get Slim
A new diet weapon is launched, the Diet Fork.  By eliminating over-indulgence, and creating a “chewing fitness” dieters can now assist in metabolism by chewing more, less portions, and taking longer to eat.  Introducing the most revolutionary break through in dieting!  America’s first Diet Fork is here to provide dieters the necessary tool to help assist in portion control, a key factor in weight loss!  The Diet Fork helps users eliminate over-indulgence while simultaneously creating a “chewing fitness.” The characteristics of the Diet Fork allow dieters to “scoop less” food during meals.  Because of the design of the Diet Fork, dieters will eat slower, assisting in weight loss.  In this health-conscious society where people are constantly searching for a way to a healthier lifestyle—the Diet Fork is going to change they way we eat.
Features:Shorter and dulled teeth inhibiting user from grasping larger pieces of food at any one time
Smaller triangular shaped surface area allowing dieter to hold less food than many other forks
Uncomfortable grip compelling user to put fork down between bites, slowing the user’s eating speed.  More here.

Have a great day!

Maybe I’m just not seeing it from a good angle, but the image on the fence looks more like Boba Fet from Star Wars than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I know that Anne Rice can write.  But can she read?

Has she read the democratic platform?  Has she read The Bible?  Can she discern that the democratic platform and The Bible endorse different ideals?

She goes out of her way to talk about the necessary separation of church and state without recognizing that SHE IS THE CHURCH.  She then goes on to endorse a very limited sector of the state (one democratic candidate).

    This is disappointing.
